INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Information Technology (I.T.)
in Years 5-7 is designed primarily as 'hands on' practical computing.
Students will gain experience commensurate with age and maturity in the
following areas:
Keyboard Skills
Elementary Word Processing (using Microsoft Word)
Computer Graphics (using Paint Packages)
Presently, students are scheduled
for one class session in the Terrace Computer Centre per week. Lunchtime
access to the Computer Centre is also encouraged.
The emphasis will be placed
on the computer as another educational tool (like a calculator or colouring
pencils) that is used to solve problems of specific types. Skills learnt
will provide the basis of the overall aim to provide students with skills
of presentation and production using the computer that can be transferred
directly into their class work.
