Year 8 Library Studies As an integral part of the College community, the library and information centre aims to assist students to develop the skills necessary for independent and lifelong learning.

Learning requires access to information from a wide variety of resources. Our College library which is fully automated, holds books, magazines, videos, compact discs, as well as two multi-media centres offering students access to online databases and the internet.

The Library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Students borrow using their College ID card and Year 8s may borrow 2 fiction and 6 non-fiction books for a period of 2 weeks.Year 8s undergo a library orientation programme during their first weeks at Terrace, as well as an introduction to finding and using information in the library.

Resource-based units of work in subject-specific areas are planned between teachers and the teacher-librarians to ensure that information literacy skills and information and communication technology skills are taught in context.

Each student is issued with a Student handbook, a guide on the preparation and presentation of assignments and exams.
