| Year 8 Library
Studies As an integral part of
the College community, the library and information centre aims to assist
students to develop the skills necessary for independent and lifelong learning.
Learning requires
access to information from a wide variety of resources. Our College library
which is fully automated, holds books, magazines, videos, compact discs,
as well as two multi-media centres offering students access to online
databases and the internet.
The Library is open
from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. on Friday.
Students borrow using their College ID card and Year 8s
may borrow 2 fiction and 6 non-fiction books for a period of 2 weeks.Year 8s undergo a
library orientation programme during their first weeks at Terrace, as
well as an introduction to finding and using information in the library.
Resource-based units
of work in subject-specific areas are planned between teachers and the
teacher-librarians to ensure that information literacy skills and information
and communication technology skills are taught in context.
Each student is issued
with a Student handbook, a guide on the preparation and presentation of
assignments and exams.
