Senior Music
Two OP subjects are offered in Year 11 and 12. They are Music and Music Extension (Performance). The latter is a one year course and must be studied concurrently with the board subject Music. The focus for this subject is on specialisation in either performance, composition or musicology. All senior students studying Music are encouraged to be in at least one of the many ensembles in the College.
Year 9 and 10 Music
Students study the aspects of analysis, composing and performing in class music. All students are required to study an instrument or voice and be part of one of the many co curricula ensembles offered at the College. This involvement is assessed.
Year 8 Music
In Year 8 students study Integrated Arts of which Music is a part. This combined program allows students to explore skills in the Arts in a combined strand approach. Basic music skills including notation, guitar playing and software composing programs are taught as part of this strand. Students will also listen and discuss music styles in themed units.
Year 7 Music
Singing, recorder playing, creating and analysing music forms the basis for Music taught in Year 7. Singing forms a great part of the curriculum to aid with learning of music concepts.
Year 5 and 6 Music
All Year 5 students take part in either a concert band or string orchestra as part of their classroom music subject for the year. These classes take place during normal school hours. The students are given lessons by specialist teachers on their instrument in small groups. Lessons and instruments are provided to the students free of charge for the year. This program is designed to include boys who have had previous instrumental experience as well as identifying boys with potential musical talent. Inquiries
