LAP: Learning Assistance Program

The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) plays an integral role in supporting boys in their learning. The boys are withdrawn from class to be given individual assistance in a particular subject area. Trained volunteer 'tutors' work with the boys on tasks set by the Learning Support Teacher. The focus for one student may be developing writing skills and for another, research and note-taking in the library. An Educational Plan is devised for each student and implemented during the semester. Volunteers come from the Terrace community and beyond. Parents, grandparents and friends are all encouraged to join LAP. All volunteers are required to participate in the 'training sessions' and those who are not current parents must hold a current Government issued 'Blue Card'.
