Students begin their study of population with world population. Students investigate the distribution and density of world population, the reasons and impacts for this.
Students learn appropriate geographical genre to create population pyramids. They also interpret these diagrams.
The unfair distribution of resources impacts on population and the shape of the population pyramid. Development geography is studied in this section.
The Demographic Transition Model is also investigated as well as reasons for the change in demography.
The last part of the unit focus' on an often forgotten population - that of refugees. Students begin to find out out refugees are classified and then begin their own investigation of refugees.
