You are visiting Paris. You will be expected to complete one activity each lesson in class (or finish it at home as homework). You will need to save downloaded files immediately to your h drive. You can then choose to work on-line, or to print and complete them by hand.

You will use the internet site "Paris.org" to gather information. You will need to research in French and English and undertake a variety of written Activités in French.

Your folio will form your written assessment for the term.

Activité 1. Choisir un Hôtel

Firstly, you will have to organise a hotel to stay in.

Go to http://www.paris.org and choose a hotel. You can then choose an hotel by “arondissement” (or numbered district of central Paris) or by a named area. Decide which area of Paris you would most prefer to be in and select a hotel. After all, money is no object!

Click here to open your on worksheet for this Activité. Save your worksheet to your h drive immediately. Then either print and complete by hand or type in your work and then print.

Put your completed worksheet in your dossier

Activité 2. Passer à la Douane.

You are about to land in France, but first you have to complete all the Customs and Immigration formalities. As you are bringing some typical Australian gifts to impress the people you meet, you will be require to declare these, (in French), along with filling in your landing card. Click here for basic French Customs Regulations.

Click here for your landing card or Carte de Débarquement. Print this out and neatly complete it - off line - in French by hand. Put the completed card into your dossier.

Activité 3. Une visite à Paris

Go to http://www.paris.org - Postcards.

From Urban Scenes, Culture, The Louvre or Monuments, select an interesting place to visit . Do not use the sections "Cafés" or "After Hours" as these are part of a later task.

You are sending an e-mail to your teacher about your visit. Complete the e mail section of the virtual card in French. You will need to include the use of passé composé as part of this task. You need to say:

      • Where you went
      • What you saw or did
      • What it was like
      • Length: minimum 50 words . Write full sentences, using -er verbs, the verb "aller" and other verbs.

Print your postcard on line, rather than mailing. Place your work in your dossier.

Activité 4 - Les cafés de Paris

Of course, a person like you will only be seen in the very best café - with the very best people! Go to http://www.paris.org - Postcards. Select the section called: "Cafés " and choose the one you like best.

You will e-mail your teacher a virtual post card for a Café in Paris. As before, complete the card on-line and print rather than mailing. You will tell in French:

Minimum: 50 words.

  • where you are and who you are with ... Tu es avec qui?...
  • what you are eating ....Qu'est-ce que tu bois?.....
  • what you are drinking ...Qu'est-ce que tu manges?.....
  • what you are doing afterwards ....Où vas-tu après, qu'est-ce que tu fais après?...

Activité 5. Une soirée à Paris.

Of course, you will go out to the best places at night too! You have so many friends that this time you will take a different person with you! Choose a place to visit from the Paris by night section at http://www.paris.org - Postcards.

You will need to draft this one! Complete the worksheet in French (Remember to save this to your h drive, then print and complete, or complete on line then print).

  • State where you went
  • Say who went with you.
  • Say why you chose this night spot.
  • Say what you did there.
  • Say what you wore (obviously your best gear since you are out to impress!).
  • Say what your evening was like.

Minimum: 50 words. Put your completed work in your dossier.
