Mathematics at Terrace

Terrace has a long and envied tradition of giving students the best possible exposure to numeracy and the gifts of problem solving. This is done through the hard work and diligence of students to their studies and staff giving more than is expected to assist in the development of each student. The sharing of wisdom through numeracy and problem solving in classroom discussions, competitions and assessment gives students a wider appreciation of the importance of Mathematics to school life and beyond.

Students at Terrace have been exposed to several challenging opportunities over the course of their 2005 studies in Mathematics. Examinations are our main priority for comparison of student achievement but to supplement this, the Terrace staff expose our students to testing themselves against other students locally as well as nationally. Generally, these competitions are a learning experience to supplement work that students investigate in the classroom and are assessed on.

Finally, I would also like to pay tribute to the tireless effort of the Mathematics staff who give so much time and effort to assist Terrace’s students develop to be ‘the best students they can be.’ I am certain that our students value this dedication and commitment and appreciate all the opportunities that are offered at the College.
