Maths Challenge for Young Australians (MCFYA)
The MCFYA enrichment stage is offered to selected students in years 9 and 10 through the Gifted and Talented Programme under the Exceptional Learners Faculty coordinated by Mrs Carolyn Waters. There are several stages of this challenge offered by the Australian Mathematicss Trust. Students are given a booklet of notes from the Noether, Euler, Gauss of Polya series and then asked to complete a number of questions (from 12 - 16). Students have from between April - September to complete these questions which follow on from a chapter given in the booklet of notes. They are extremely challenging problems.
Mathematics Teams Challenge (MTC)
The MTC is conducted through Moreton Bay College. Terrace entered five teams in the year 8 division, the year 9&10 division and the year 11&12 division. Each team consists of five students. There are two sections to this challenge. The teams event and the relay. It is a challenging day and an enjoyable one as students are able to test themselves and meet students from other schools. Terrace this year will also compete in the MTC hosted by Ferny Grove SHS on 16 May. A great day was had by all of our 36 students that competed from Years 8 - 12.
