Last weekend, the Red Peppers Pep Band performed for the half-time show at Tennyson for the football. Once again, these young men did an outstanding job and really had the crowd on side. This concludes this group’s athletics performance commitments for 2017 and we look forward to hearing them bigger and better in 2018. Congratulations also to the Terrace Jazz Combo for their performance at the Term 2 Sports Launch. I have received several positive emails from parents in the wider community commenting on the quality of performance and professionalism these young men displayed.

Next week sees a very busy performance schedule for Terrace Music. On Wednesday 17 May, we have students representing Terrace at the GPS Music Showcase. This will involve a day of rehearsals and workshops, followed by an evening concert in the QPAC Concert Hall at 7pm. Free tickets for the event are available for anyone in the community wishing to attend. Please contact music@terrace.qld.edu.au to reserve your tickets and they will be forwarded to you once they become available.

On Thursday evening, 18 May, we will be featuring our beginning and intermediate ensembles at our annual Winter Concert held in the Campbell Centre. Our premier ensembles will feature in the Norman Clarke Concert which will be held on Sunday 21 May at Villanova College. Full details for these events can be found on the Terrace App. under Culture | Music.

The Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University is pleased to present the State Honours Ensemble Program Queensland (SHEP) from Thursday 28 September to Sunday 1 October to be held at Queensland Conservatorium's Southbank campus, South Brisbane. SHEP provides an opportunity for secondary school wind, brass, percussion, string and voice students to work in an intensive environment of musical excellence with their peers, under the leadership of a team of eminent national and international conductors. If you would like to nominate your son, please do so by emailing bradesbensen@terrace.qld.edu.au by 3pm on Tuesday 16 May.

Registration for the Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival is now open. Pemulwuy! is a triennial event based in Brisbane, Queensland and we have always had a good representation from Terrace in previous years. It aims to encourage males throughout Australia to engage in singing at whatever level of experience they find themselves and to build networks between conductors and artists who work in this unique field. If you would like to register or find out more information, please visit http://www.pemulwuy.org.au/wspHome.aspx

Next week, College Assembly will feature the Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mr Jan Hewerdine.

For those of you who participate in our Premier Ensembles, the Terrace Shop now has a selection of black microfibre shirts available for $50. These will be required, along with black trousers, for the Norman Clarke Concert later this term.

For those students who perform with our beginner and intermediate level ensembles, it is a requirement that they wear grey trousers for performances. This provides a more formal and unified look as opposed to a mix of trousers and shorts. The first big concert event for these groups will be the Winter Concert on Thursday 18 May. Trousers are available from the Uniform Shop in sizes from 8 to 18. Students who perform only as part of the Year 5 and 6 Band and Strings classes do not need to purchase trousers.

Please check the Terrace App and Parent Lounge regularly as this is where information regarding various events (see the list below) are published. As events are approved and posted to the Parent Lounge, you will be sent an email advising the name of the event, including the Event Memo, to check and you will be required to give a response regarding attendance. Event Memos will also be available through the Terrace App in Culture | Music.
