Theatresports

Red Cravats (Junior B) won last Monday night. Congratulations! This means that we will have at least three teams through to the quarter finals including Senior A, Junior A and Junior B.

Public Speaking

Best wishes to Luke Ames who will be participating in the 2017 Rostrum Voice of Youth State Junior Finals.

These finals will be held at Waterford Place on Saturday 1 July from 1pm. It would be good to see a large contingent of Red and Black to support Luke.

Auction Idol

As reported last week, Charlie Parer once again competed in the finals of the National Auction Idol competition. Well done on your second place, Charlie!

Mooting

The national Mooting competition takes place at Bond University this weekend. Terrace has a proud and successful history with this competition and we wish Connor Wright, Xavier ClarkandMatt Latter clear and concise thoughts. Thank you to Ms Samantha Knott who will be travelling with and mentoring these students.

Debating

As we come to the end of Semester 1, we are halfway through the Terrace Debating program. The GPS competition saw several teams rank highly because of their hard work in both prepared and short prep debates. At the end of next week, the QDU Secondary Competition's qualifying rounds will finish with teams across Years 8 to 12 making it through to the finals in Term 3. The QDU Primary and Junior Competitions also commence next week with four debates being held over the next five months. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support of the coaches and parents who ensure that our Terrace Gentlemen represent our College to the best of their ability. This weekend, we will be holding our annual Debating Dinner to celebrate the Terrace Debating community. It is always a great night, and the Debate between our Senior A team and parent/coach team is a highlight of the year. Thank you to all involved in the organisation of this wonderful night.

Art Union Tickets

Don’t forget to write your Support Group on the back of all your tickets. This is an important fundraiser for our Support Groups.

USA Music Tour

The final preparations are underway for the USA Music Tour. There will be 47 students travelling to the United States for workshops as well as participating in some exciting Fourth of July activities.

The Parent Information Evening will be next Monday night, 5 June, in the GT125 Theatre, starting at 6pm. This is a valuable meeting for all touring families.

House Choir

The beginning of Term 3 always kicks off with the colloquially known, “House Shout”. For the new Terrace families, this evening involves every member of every House in a six minute per House singing competition. Last year, Barrett took the honours with a ‘Christmas in July’ theme. This year…come along and join with the Terrace community on Friday 21 July, starting at 6.30pm, in the Campbell Centre.

There will be various food vendors so come early, have dinner and get ready to have the best Friday night of the College calendar!
