Director of Sport | Mr Damian Wright

Preparation for the GPS Track and Field Championships is well underway. Boys have had opportunities to train across all disciplines throughout Terms 2 and 3. With Rugby and Basketball now finished, the pathway for Track and Field and the opportunity to attend training is well and truly open.

Track and Field should be every boy’s priority and to assist this the preseason Rowing and Cricket programs have been modified to a reduced contact start. The boys who have chosen Cricket, Rowing, Gymnastics, Swimming or Volleyball will not be disadvantaged if they commit the first few weeks of Term 4 to Track and Field.

Communication on what is being offered for Holiday Training is available on the Terrace App – under Track and Field. Up to date early communications will be posted on Twitter @TerraceAthletics.

Track and Field athletes will attend several meets in Term 4. These meets and the performances recorded will dictate the thinking in the selection of the final team.

All boys will be members of the larger squad – and from this squad the Championship team will be selected.

GPS Track and Field Meets, which boys need to attend and register performances at are:

  • Friday (evening) 6 October | The Southport School GOLD COAST
  • Friday (evening) 13 October | Nudgee College GT HOSTED MEET
  • Friday (evening) 20 October | Nudgee College TGS HOSTED MEET

GPS Junior Track and Field Championships Thursday 19 October QSAC

GPS Senior Track and Field Championships Friday 27 October QSAC

Thank you to all families and boys for their dedication and commitment to the Rugby and Basketball programs. I truly appreciate the families who travel all over South East Queensland to find their son's fixtures in supplementary games. Thank you.

If you are not engaged in holiday training for any of the activities offered, I hope you have a restful and relaxing holiday period.
