Dean of Waterford | Mr Mason Hellyer

Students should not lose focus on their academics.

With subject selection and Immersion taking a lot of attention, it is important that students do not lose sight of the main focus of the term – their academics. Assignments will be completed and handed in this week, Exam timetables have been published, and student focus should now be on preparation for exam block commencing 18 August. I have reminded students of the wonderful staff here at Waterford who offer tutoring before, during and after school. Also, at 7.45am each Friday, we run Friday rollcall where the week’s work is revisited and revised.

The Year 10 subject selection process comes to a close this week following the subject selection evening on Monday night. Thank you to those parents and students who attended, hopefully you were able to hear information that has assisted with your final selection of subjects. Over the course of this week your son will meet with a Head of Faculty to finalise subject selections.

The Immersion program is increasingly on the radar for both staff and students. Several parent information evenings have been held over the last two weeks, specifically for the units that are taking place outside of Brisbane. Further information regarding the Brisbane based units will be forthcoming and these groups are also meeting with their Immersion leaders here at Waterford.
