College Dean | Acting College Dean, Mr Damien Fall

It is a great privilege for me to be writing this article as I fill the position of Acting College Dean. This has come about due to Mr Chris Ryan acting as Principal while Dr Carroll takes leave for the final two weeks of this term and the first two weeks of Term 4. I am enjoying the challenge of learning the intricacies of a new role and am feeling fresh after taking long-service leave for the first six weeks of this term. I feel very fortunate that my wife and I had the opportunity to spend three weeks in the USA, attending a family wedding and seeing an amazing part of the world. Returning to work after an extended break is always a challenge, but coming back to the Terrace Family is always a gentle landing. Travelling always serves as a reminder that we live in a wonderful part of the world. I look forward to the coming weeks in my temporary role, which primarily involves working closely with matters pertaining to the College’s staff.

This week, we welcomed Mrs Melissa Deacon back after a period of leave. On behalf of the College, I extend our warm thanks to Ms Cassandra Bampton who assumed the position of Acting Coordinator of Learning Support and to all of the amazing staff of the Faculty of Exceptional Learners, who kept things running smoothly in Melissa’s absence.

Term 3 is always busy and can be somewhat exhausting, both for students and staff. As usual at this time of year, we have had a significant amount of illness within our community, but we are almost at the finish line, meaning some days of rest and recuperation are not too far away. I wish all of our staff and students the very best at this important time, involving the completion and marking of assessment and the subsequent reporting process.
