Terrace Ladies Group

Spring Luncheon | 1 September | Hillstone, St Lucia

The Spring Luncheon at Hillstone last Friday was a wonderful celebration of the Terrace Family. Over 500 ladies enjoyed the beautiful first day of spring together. Congratulations to all our prize winners, especially Mrs Sally Millard who won the McKinney’s Jewellers voucher.

Special thanks to all our sponsors for contributing towards a terrific prize pool. In particular, thank you McKinney’s Jewellers once again for your generosity towards TLG functions and enabling our successful fundraising efforts. Special thanks also to Gambaro’s Hotel for hosting a very festive after party with a very generous hospitality offer as well as their efforts in decorating in Terrace colours to make us feel welcome.

The Spring Luncheon 2017 managed to raise almost $25,000. These funds will be going towards a specific aspect in the new development on Rogers Street. Final design detail is still to be undertaken once the tender process has been completed. Once this has happened, TLG will be participating in discussions to identify a key area for our funds to be allocated. The Committee will keep TLG members informed on any decisions made.

Last but not least, a huge thank you must also go to the organising committee. Without all their hard work we would not have had such a successful luncheon.

Year 5 2018 Orientation

Last Thursday evening we saw the Year 5 Students of 2018 and their families for their Orientation Evening. Special thanks to the Year 9 mothers who assisted us in making them feel welcome.

Year 7 2018 Orientation

On Thursday 6 October, we welcome the Year 7 Students for 2018 at 5pm, with the TLG providing refreshments. Another request for assistance for this will happen, most likely to Year 9 families, so keep a look out for that please.

TLG meeting – Monday 4 September

Thank you to the ladies who attended the TLG meeting on Monday this week. We covered many topics with a view to getting ideas on moving forward for 2018. In particular, we talked about time and frequency of TLG meetings, ideas for guest speakers and canteen operating systems. Some of these matters affect the TLG Constitution and therefore require a vote to be held at a TLG meeting, with a quorum of members present. This will happen at our Annual General Meeting on Monday 9 October at 9am. We will also be announcing the new placements for TLG Executive positions for 2018-2019 at the AGM. Of course, all are welcome and we hope to have good numbers to enable voting for the recommended changes. Further information will be circulated prior to the meeting.

Canteen Assistance this Saturday

This Saturday is a home game against BBC. We are expecting a very busy day in the Canteens because it is also a Timor Friendship day, Old Boys 30 Year Reunion for 1987, as well as a full schedule of games against a strong rugby school. Help has been requested through the volunteer sign-on links through the Sports Office, which can also be found on the College App and twitter. Please consider signing up to help, even just for half an hour. All assistance is greatly appreciated. We would also be most grateful for a good supply of home bake please.

Inter-house Sports Carnival

On Friday 7 October, Week 1 of next term, is the Inter-House Athletics Carnival at Tennyson. The TLG will be operating a full canteen service and assistance will be requested via a sign-on volunteer link in the coming weeks. We will also be most grateful to home bake being either sent with the boys, or you could deliver either to Tennyson directly, or drop off to Student Services for collection and transport out to Tennyson. Last year the canteen was extremely popular with the boys and we are expecting the same again. More information for this will come in the week leading up to the carnival.

Care and Concern

We are currently underway with a Care and Concern service for a family who are in need due to illness. Thank you to the ladies who quickly filled the roster for this. The family receiving the meals is extremely grateful and look forward to the delivery of the delicious dinners each day.

There is likely to be another Care and Concern offer next term for another family. We will do a call out across the school community for assistance here, so please keep a look out for this and help where you can.
