Director of Music | Mr Brad Esbensen

I would like to begin this week’s article by congratulating all of our musicians and choristers on their outstanding performance at Monday evening’s Celebration of Excellence. The feedback following the event has been very positive and supportive of the outstanding performances from our students. The full day of rehearsals and tech. runs was quite lengthy but had a relaxed feel to it and I would like to congratulate all of the boys on the way they participated. Their behaviour and professionalism was exceptional; they didn’t miss a beat and produced excellent results in the performance.

Our Year 12 students finished classes on Tuesday and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our musicians and their parents for their commitment and support during their time at Terrace. I would particularly like to acknowledge our music captains, Patrick Sharkey (Music Captain) and Simon Hatton (Music Vice Captain), for their dedication to the roles and their leadership throughout the year.

This Saturday morning, we will be holding placement hearings to welcome new students to Terrace Music. It is not necessary for any students currently enrolled in our program to attend auditions on the day.

Following the auditions and placement of students in ensembles, all those involved in our premier ensembles will be receiving an invitation to attend the 2018 Music Camp. There will be some changes to the usual run for camp in 2018 due to increasing numbers of students involved in the program. Dates are currently set for Monday 15 January through to Friday 19 January and a schedule outlining student involvement will be sent shortly. The camp is a great opportunity for our musicians to engage in several days of intensive rehearsals to hone their skills and to develop a sense of teamwork and camaraderie within their ensembles. Once it has been sent, please respond to the Parent Lounge request by the due date as numbers need to be finalised with the camp site before the end of term.

Over the course of the next few weeks, you will be receiving information regarding lessons and ensembles for 2018. Could you please respond to these requests promptly to assist our Music staff in timetable planning and ensemble programs for next year and prepare billings for Term 1, 2018 lessons. Please notify the Music Dept. of any enrolment changes to your son’s lessons for 2018. Students currently enrolled in the program will automatically roll over into 2018.

Please see below for the list of Term 4 events. Please remember to accept tour notifications as they are sent through Parent Lounge and check Event Memos(available through the Terrace App).
