Years 5 and 6 Program Leader | Mr Brendan Ganley

Years 5, 7 and 9 students have been preparing themselves for NAPLAN testing next week. Being aware of and prepared for upcoming events influences the best possible outcome. This is very apparent with the time spent in NAPLAN preparation over the past couple of weeks. The students' preparation has meant that they are aware of testing structures and processes, which are very similar to what we do here with our exam and assignment preparation. Having the students aware of upcoming events alleviates greater stress and uncertainty. We wish our Years 5, 7 and 9 students all the best for next week.

With the half way point of Term 2 approaching, attention should be firstly on assignments (dates and drafting processes) and secondly onto what work can be done for exam block later in the term. Students are encouraged to check with their teachers for advice and direction for where improvements need to be made. Even though exams are a couple of weeks away, students are reminded to take time for preparation. The willingness to put extra time in now will count in the late revision stages nearer to exam time.

In Term 2 there is another opportunity for our Years 5 and 6 students to engage in Terrace Ministry programs.  With the winter months approaching, Terrace would like to support our friends of the Terrace Eddie's Van program through an Eddie's Blanket Drive.
During Weeks 6-8, students and their families are invited to contribute to the Eddie's Blanket Drive by bringing in blankets and items of warm clothing (adult). The provision of a warm blanket or items of clothing will be a welcome addition to our ongoing daily commitment to our Eddie's Van friends and to our working as a Terrace community to make a difference to others. Congratulations again on the wonderful contributions to our Lenten Fair and Lenten Appeal and we look forward to any contributions which can be deposited into your son’s classroom, which will then be distributed to our Eddie's Van friends via our Big Brekky and Night Van ministry programs.

A reminder that on Friday 25 May, Year 6 will take part in an Inter-House Indoor Football Competition at Waterford Place. Students will be walked across from the main campus to Waterford Place. Students are asked to bring their Terrace sport gear. The afternoon will conclude with a sausage sizzle and drink after the final game and will conclude by 5.30pm.
