Deputy Principal | Mr Damien Fall

I am delighted to announce that the Terrace Family continues to grow. This week, we were pleased to hear that Mrs Donna Compton, who teaches Year 6 at the College, has welcomed the family’s second child, Lucas. All are doing well, and we wish the Compton family the very best as they get to know each other. We also eagerly await the arrival of Mr Terry Thompson and his wife Vanessa’s second child, due in the next few days. Again, we send our very best wishes for good health and a lifetime of happiness together. As always, the thoughts and prayers of all in the community go to those who most need it, whether they are experiencing good times or hardship.

Last Friday was a lovely return to normality when the weather allowed us to hold our first Inter-House Track and Field carnival in three years. Days such as these are a reminder of the importance of a student’s school experience extending far wider than simply what takes place in the classroom. Similarly, days like Friday are a nice break from routine for staff and an opportunity to interact in a manner that differs considerably from what happens on an average school day. The events of 2020 have seen a number of our regular non-classroom activities impacted and we cannot forget how important these events are for the wellbeing of everyone in the community. The hive of activity with parents running the BBQ and canteen at Tennyson last Friday clearly showed how important the interaction is for parents as well as students and staff. The day was like a breath of fresh air, which we can all be grateful for. The Senior Formal the same evening made the day a special one for our Year 12 students and the staff who joined them.

We are currently working on the 2021 timetable and calendar as well as recruiting new staff. In the next few weeks, we aim to appoint the new College Leadership Team position, Dean of Pedagogy and Learning Innovation, a role tasked with assisting Terrace educators to deliver the best of teaching and learning in our classrooms. We look forward to this exciting new staffing addition. Best wishes to everyone in the Terrace Family, particularly our Year 12 students and their teachers as they enter the final week of teaching and learning before external exams commence.
