Dear Members of the Terrace Family,

Welcome back to Term 3 and I hope the holiday break provided some opportunity to recharge and a break from the routine of school and all that is associated with the normal school week.

Term 3 is a significant term, particularly on the academic front. I, along with other members of the CLT, have spoken with students from most year levels this week and the message has been very consistent – The time to start is now. I encourage families to reinforce this message of getting back into the routine of school straight away.

Over the holiday break many staff, students and parents were involved in activities ranging from overseas tours, sporting camps and clinics and a range of workshops. I wish to thank all involved in the various activities and congratulate the students involved. I had the privilege of spending some time with the music tour in the USA and I can say that the Terrace students were outstanding and performed magnificently at a number of venues. Congratulations to everyone involved with the huge range of activities that took place during the holidays.

School reports were sent over the holidays and the Parent/Teacher interviews are scheduled over the next couple of weeks. These interviews provide an excellent opportunity for staff, parents, and students to reflect on Semester 1 and, importantly, to plan for Semester 2. As such, I encourage parents to make use of these meetings. As well as these meetings, all students from Years 5 to 12 will have an academic mentor interview with either their Tutor, their House Dean, or a member of the College Leadership Team. These mentor interviews will occur over the next few weeks and will provide another opportunity to reflect and plan for the semester ahead.

Needless to say there is plenty happening in Term 3 and I encourage families to make use of the range of communication media the College employs – Website, App, Facebook, Parent Portal and Terrace News, to promote the various school activities.

The Term 3 GPS season commences this weekend with Chess, Basketball and Rugby. There is a significant number of students involved in these activities and I am confident all will give their best. At the Spirit Assembly on Tuesday, the members of the ‘First’ teams were presented along with the Captains of this term’s various co-curricular activities. I congratulate the following young men on their appointment as leaders of their respective activities:

At Terrace we encourage support and are proud of the strong spirit that students display. Again, students were reminded at the Spirit Assembly that this support needs to be positive and when competing we do so competitively but also with the highest degree of sportsmanship. A reminder that spectators for First Chess, Basketball and Rugby need to be in full College uniform which includes students wearing blazers and white shirts. Our uniform is an important part of who we are and I ask parents to support the College by ensuring their sons are dressed in the College’s formal uniform each Saturday.

I hope that the holidays provided a break for families from the regular school routine. This term is yet another busy time with our celebration of the academic achievements from Semester 1, Parent/Teacher and Student interviews, subject selections for our current Year 10 cohort leading into Year 11, subject selection for our current Year 8 students leading into Year 9, possible selection for English Extension and Music Extension subjects for our current Year 11 students, Year 10 Immersion and our formal Queensland Core Skills test for our Senior students.

Assessment Calendars

All students have been issued with an assessment calendar outlining the date of assessment issued and the due date. Copies are also available for students via Moodle, Student Cafe and the College App. Parents can access assessment calendars through either the College App or via Parent Lounge ('links' section) . I strongly encourage all students to use the information on assessment calendars to construct a study plan. A study plan is imperative to ensure that adequate time is given to each of the demands of each subject studied. All students have been versed in how to construct a study plan.

Checklist

All learning required for this term for every year level and every subject is listed for students on the checklist on Moodle. Again, I encourage all students to print the checklists relevant to them and use this as their revision guide. Students are often remising in their allocation of time to revise for exams. Assignments are usually covered well by students due to scaffolding and drafting but time given to revision is often neglected until the final week/s of the term.

Revision- how, when and why…

Often students are unsure of how to revise - the solution is very easy - follow and practise the checklist skills. The checklist should be used by students as if it was an exam. With pen and paper, students should work their way through the checklist, practising and then checking that their answers are correct. The checklist, outlining all the learning that is required for the exam, should not just be read over and knowledge assumed. Revision should begin in week one of each term. Much research, plus common sense, dictates that skills and knowledge practised become skills and knowledge mastered.

Homework and Diaries

I often refer to the “three aspects” of mastery within a term. The mastery of homework, assignments and revision. Homework needs to be completed each day and hours logged so students can refer to this log against the results achieved. Many thanks to all the parents who take the time to sign their sons’ diaries. Your support in this is most valued.

Pen and Paper

Research continues to emphasise the need to use pen and paper to enhance memory and learning. Students need to complete their homework and revision and where possible assignments using pen and paper rather than their computer. We continue to track and monitor weekly the use of BYOD at school and follow up with boys who have used their BYOD for purposes other than educational.

Tutorials, Study group and hall

Staff at Terrace are very generous with extra time given to offer tutorials. I encourage boys to use this very valuable resource. Times are listed on the College App for students. Parent are able to view available times via the College App and Parent Lounge ('Links' section). Study group for Year 12 students and study group for Year 11 students will continue to operate every afternoon from 3.15 to 5.15 pm. Study hall for students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will operate on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Attendance must be confirmed via the Parent Lounge.

Start Well

A strong start to the term will set students up and give confidence for a strong finish. Best wishes for the term ahead.

Term 3 is always a crucial time during the academic year for students. Our Year 12 cohort are steadily building towards the QCS tests in Week 8 at the same time the Year 10 students commence their Immersion program. These events combined with a significantly high portion of our students involved in co-curricular events means that the boys can sometimes “burn the candle at both ends” during Term 3.

Research suggests that 7 out of 10 teenagers are not getting the recommended nine hours of sleep each night. We would all be aware of the negative consequences of the under-slept teenage male, including increased irritability, inability to communicate and lack of concentration to name a few.

The College has invited a sleep consultant, Mrs Lisa Maltman, (from The Sleep Connection) to make a presentation to parents next week during the Parent/Teacher interviews. Two presentations commencing at 5pm and the second at 6.30pm will occur in the GT 125 theatre during the evening. Each presentation will last for approximately 45 minutes. The presentation is designed for either or both, parents and students. A video link providing some background information to the work Lisa undertakes in schools can be found here. This week has been characterised by the need to quickly re-establish normal routines within the College to ensure that class time is as effective as possible. Our approach in “sweating the small stuff” assists staff in establishing a productive tone. I congratulate our students for their ability to settle quickly and focus on the core business of learning in the classroom.

This weekend we enter Round 1 of the Rugby, Basketball and Chess competitions against Nudgee College. Whilst we celebrated the members of the various First’s programs earlier in the week, during our Spirit Assembly, all teams understand that fixtures against Nudgee College are significant events on the calendar and require the best from our young men on all fronts. The College’s expectations are that the boys enter into competition this weekend with the highest level of commitment and respect for our opposition both on and off the field as players and supporters. All students remaining to watch the 1^st XV this weekend will be required to wear the formal College uniform (including the white shirt and blazer – hats not required).

At one stage or another we’ve all experienced the power of being acknowledged for who we are and experienced the pride of having one of our achievements celebrated. Tuesday’s Spirit Assembly for Chess, Basketball and Rugby was a fresh reminder of the extent to which our Terrace Family values acknowledging and celebrating others. While bearing witness to the Spirit Assembly and the impact it was having on individuals, teams and our community, I was taken back to last week’s NAIDOC Week celebrations at Musgrave Park, West End. Another wonderful time to acknowledge and celebrate.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As was evident at Musgrave Park last Friday, NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is always a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.

In the spirit of NAIDOC Week, I wonder if we could further acknowledge and celebrate our nation’s Indigenous history and culture? Acknowledging and celebrating anyone, any team, any group requires authenticity and sincerity. When we are acknowledged or the focus of any celebration in this way our self-worth and dignity are affirmed. We feel valued, we feel loved and we are encouraged to give our best.

As we do with many whole-school occasions, we commenced this term’s first College Assembly with an Acknowledgement of Country. The essence of this acknowledgement is in the key phrases below:

As a Catholic community in the Edmund Rice tradition, we are committed to reconciliation with and recognition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people of our nation…..we acknowledge the elders past, present and future of the Turrbal people of Jaggera country on whose traditional lands on which we stand……we acknowledge the pain and struggle of the past and commit to a hopeful future where we proudly share in the stewardship and care of the ancient land on which we stand.

Our Terrace Family will continue to find ways to be authentic in our acknowledgment and celebration of our nation’s, and local area’s, Indigenous peoples, history and culture. While doing so we will collectively be affirmed and encouraged towards a shared future.

Welcome back to Term 3 in what always proves to be a most enjoyable term for the Waterford community. After two terms the boys are well and truly a part of the Waterford furniture and have displayed a number of very pleasing academic results throughout the first semester. Not only has this group achieved a record number of academic medal winners but just as importantly, they have shown a strong improvement from Year 9 to Year 10 Term 2. Our challenge as a team is to maintain these standards.

This term consists of six teaching weeks followed by the exam week and then the three weeks of Immersion. Due to the time limitations, the boys have only two assignments for their core subjects this term. However, we will be moving through the various units of work at a faster rate which presents a different set of challenges for the cohort. We have discussed this at length throughout the week.

All Year 10 students are working on completing their SET Plans over the next two weeks in Formation classes. This will assist them in making an informed decisions about subject selection for Year 11. The Subject Selection evening is being held on Monday 1 August in the Campbell Centre. Parent information sessions will also be held prior to the 6pm starting time for those who have sons on the Timor, Fiji and Cape York immersions. Immersion staff will send reminders late next week. If you haven’t already done so could I ask that you login to the Parent Lounge and accept the Immersion invitation assigned to your son and update his medical details.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate some of Terrace’s best mathematicians for their outstanding results in the UQ/QAMT Problem Solving Competition (a joint initiative with the Queensland Association of Mathematics teachers and the University of Queensland School of Maths and Physics). Terrace had the best in the state in Years 7, 9 and 11 with seconds in Years 9 and 10! The results display students from Queensland’s other biggest school who also have wonderful academic traditions but the results from Terrace were outstanding. Congratulations to our Years 7,8 and 9 students (Year 7-Ryan Wong 1^st, Year 8-Tyler O’Farrell Commendation, Year 9 William Barnett 1^st, Yang Zhang and Patrick Gleeson equal 2^nd, Justin Jeyarajah Commendation.

Our middle years students have received their reports and reflection on these are incredibly important. They can now plan. Their plan for this term could include three parts- What/How/How well? What is being covered this term and what are the assessment requirements for this? How am I going to study (Terrace recommended methods are covered each term in Formation) and how well am I going to do this? Consistency throughout the term is the key as well as attention to detail for homework. There is hard work involved and thinking about questions in review chapters etc. can lead to an understanding that is deeper than merely trying to memorise passages. Goals need to be renewed for the term and we talk to students in Formation about SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Action Planned, Realistic, Time Framed).

UNDER 18 CHAMPION AT AGE 16!

Hughston Parle (Terrace Chess Vice Captain, Year 11) competed in the Queensland Under 18 Chess Championships over the holidays. He is now the Queensland Under 18 Chess Champion at age 16. Congratulations Hughston and we look forward to seeing you results in the upcoming GPS Chess competition.

Joshua Alfredson (Year 6) and Will Ames (Year 6) competed at the Nudgee College Holiday Chess Tournament in the Novice Division. Josh took out first place (winning all games and tied in two) and Will was awarded a Merit (only narrowly missing third place on count-back). Well done gents!

Terrace Chess will be competing at Nudgee College this Friday night. A bus will leave the College after school and parents will be required to collect their sons from Nudgee. Please check the information that Mr Devine emailed early in the week.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Congratulations to Luke Ames (Year 8) who was the runner up in the Rostrum Voice of Youth State Finals held at Waterford Place over the holidays. We look forward to hearing more from this young Terracian in the coming years.

USA MUSIC TOUR A GREAT SUCCESS

During the holiday period, 47 students, five staff and over 500 kilograms of luggage toured to America. The first week was spent in Ball State University, Indianapolis at the Music For All Summer Symposium. Here our touring party joined with over 2000 students, directors and an elite array of faculty for a week of intensive music workshops. There were over 150 faculty training the students and staff and to put this into perspective we do see these clinicians in Australia but at the rate of one a year at best. The camp was long and intensive running from 6.30am – 11pm. Each night finished with a concert of an artist or group also featuring students from the camp who had worked with the artists during the day and stood out. The concert were inline with a great rock concert awesome production, lighting and vibe. Well done to trumpeter Eden Chan (Year 8) who was selected to perform with Rodney Marsalis and the Philadelphia Brass. Our touring party learnt a new level of dedication, excellence and being on-time this week which will last for years to come. The second week was spent in and around Los Angeles where our ensembles performed at the LA Sparks home game – Staples Stadium, 4^th of July Parade – Huntington Beach, 4^th of July Celebrations – Santa Ana, performances on the Pier – Santa Monica as well as Performing Artists Workshops at Disney.

This USA tour was a true success and will never be forgotten by the tour party or their families. Well done to all involved for making this such a success.

HOUSE CHOIR

Next Friday sees our annual House Choir evening. If you are new to the College, make sure this is an event you don’t miss! There will be food and drink available in our Terrace Eat Street with food trucks working from 5pm with the evening proper starting at 6.30pm. It has been suggested by the Food Vendors that cash will be quickest meaning smaller lines and less wait time. We have increased the food vans on last year or the returning vans have increased their capacity as they under estimated the size of the whole community event.

Each House ‘performs’ for six minutes with a slick rendition of their chosen songs within their 2017 theme. As always, there are two pieces of silverware the Houses compete for: the People’s Choice Award and the House Choir Cup. The Cup is decided by a group of specialized adjudicators. The shield is decided by votes from the audience. Votes happen after each House with students running through the audience collecting ‘votes’ in their buckets. $1 = one vote. Change is available in the Campbell centre.

We look forward to seeing an overflow of people in Duhig Place and Treacy Court watching on the big screens.

Welcome back to Term 3! During the holiday period, 47 musicians took part in a very successful and rewarding music tour to the USA. The tour consisted of two components: the first week was spent at the Music For All (MFA) Summer Symposium, attended by some 1300 music students from across the USA, and the second week was packed with a variety of musical performances in the greater Los Angeles area. This tour has had such a positive impact on all who participated with many of the students excited about a new-found interest in taking their musical studies further than they had previously imagined. There were many highlights on this tour, but one that stood out for me was to see Eden Chan (Year 8 – Trumpet) perform with Rodney Marsalis (cousin of internationally renowned trumpeter Wynton Marsalis) as part of the evening concert program at MFA. Highlights from the second week included: the 4^th of July Parade at Huntington Beach; the Choir performing the Star Spangled Banner before a large audience at the Staples Centre; and the Disney soundtrack recording experience. With a longer-term touring program taking shape, we are hoping to be able to offer such positive musical experiences to future generations of Terrace musicians. A special thank you goes out to the dedicated Music Staff who gave up their holiday time to ensure the success of the tour.

Term 3 is a big one for Terrace Music with all our ensembles participating at Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) which takes place at Villanova College from Thursday 17 August through to Sunday 20 August. This is our “grand final” event for music and as such, it is expected that these performances take priority. Please ensure that music is being practised at home and that rehearsals are attended regularly. Parent Lounge notifications and Event Memos will be posted shortly and we would appreciate prompt responses to assist us in the logistical preparations for such a large event. A Music Spirit Assembly will take place at the College on Thursday 17 August and will involve performances from our premier ensembles.

On Tuesday 1 August, some of our younger musicians will be representing Terrace at the GPS Music Day of Excellence (Years 5-7) which will take place at Nudgee College. Music has been distributed to teachers, and students are encouraged to begin working on their music to ensure they get the most out of this day. It is always an exciting and inspiring experience for our younger players. Notifications for this event will be sent out to all involved shortly.

Next week, the USA Music Tour Marching Band will perform at College Assembly.

A significant thank you to all the boys and families that gave their time to attend the numerous sporting camps, clinics, training sessions and tours over the June/ July holidays.

It was certainly a busy time, but putting the work in over the holiday period and preparing for the upcoming season will be beneficial in the competition phase of the season.

Term 3 is competition time for Rugby, Basketball and Track and Field.

Numbers currently are indicating 41 Rugby teams, 35 Basketball teams and the numbers for Track and Field are exceptionally good with over 130 boys signed on.

Balancing all that is offered at the College is a challenge – finding time for Track and Field with your Rugby and Basketball can sometimes be challenging, but the all-round athletic development provided by Track and Field enhances all other activities. I would strongly encourage all boys who are interested in improving their running, jumping and throwing skills to attend at least one of the sessions offered. Leaving it to the end of Rugby, Basketball seasons and the September holiday period is far too late.

An addition to Track and Field is the availability for the boys to be involved with the Core Strength classes on a Monday afternoon in College Hall and the Stretching/Flexibility classes on a Friday morning in College Hall. Not your normal offering, but an exceptionally important addition to their overall development . Again I would strongly encourage the boys to attend these sessions.

Balance and plan your commitments.

CONGRATULATIONS / SPECIAL MENTION

Congratulations to the boys that represented the College in Water polo over the Holiday period in various Queensland Under 16 and Under 20 teams. Special note of mention is for LachlanSteains in Year 10 who made the Australian Youth Water polo team to travel to Serbia and Montenegro in August to compete in the European Championships.

Congratulations to the following students that made the Queensland Schoolboy Rugby teams at the recent Australian Schools Championships in Sydney. Will Kirk in Combined States, Hoani Ford-Stevens in Queensland II, Byron Ralston in Queensland II, Ryan Gassman in Queensland II and Harry Wilson in Queensland I. Special congratulations to Harry Wilson who was named in the Australian Schoolboys team following the championships.

NUDGEE ROUND 1

What a fantastic way to commence the Rugby and Basketball seasons with a fixture against our traditional rivals in Nudgee College. Fixtures will be played AWAY this weekend at our opponent’s home ground.

Please note that the Nudgee College Round does require boys to wear their white shirt with blazer to support ALL the teams. Formal dress please.

Terrace students are eligible to trial for selection into District and Met Nth Regional representative teams in a number of sports. Our primary students nominate via City Dist. and our secondary students via

Nth Independent or in some cases Met Nth direct depending on the sport. Boys will only be nominated if they are of a high standard and meet qualifying times in respective sports.

RUGBY WRAP

The 2017 Terrace Rugby Program is well underway and will once again see a large number of boys pulling on the red and black jersey.

The Rugby program is committed to offering a safe and well-structured environment with a focus on participation, enjoyment and the opportunity to learn. In doing so the program provides boys, coaches and referees with a strong framework for improvement and abundant opportunity to develop the key elements of rugby.

Thanks to all staff, Old Boys and parents for their generous support over the holiday period. The 1^st XV, 2^nd XV and 16A teams travelled to Coffs Harbour for a four day camp. The Under 15A squad travelled to the North Island of New Zealand experiencing all that the country has to offer on and off the field. The annual holiday clinics at Tennyson were a huge success with large numbers of boys in attendance. The holiday period was capped off with a round of games against BGS. The work over the holidays will lay a solid foundation for us to build from as we head into Term 3.

Congratulations to Harry Wilson on his selection in the Queensland Schoolboys 1 team. Harry was also handed the honour of captaincy. Ryan Gassman, Hoani Ford-Stevens and Byron Ralston with their election in Queensland 2. Will Kirk was named in the Combined States Schools team. All the boys travelled to Sydney to contest the National Schoolboys Championships. Harry Wilson was rewarded with selection in the Australian Schoolboys team for his outstanding performances.

Congratulations also to all boys who participated in the 2017 QJRU State Championships which were held at Albany Creek during the holidays. Terrace was well represented in all ages.

BASKETBALL WRAP

Trust the process! This was the call to arms by GT’s 1^st V and Basketball Captain Adam Bauman at the College’s first assembly of the year and is an ethos that we hope permeates through the entire program. After the success of the A-program through Term 2 and the still ongoing Brothers Club season, the GT Basketball Program looks primed for another strong GPS season.

Record breaking! Another term used to describe the program by Director of Mr Sport Damian Wright as the sport achieves a record number 35 teams with over 340 boys strong. This increase in numbers, along with the tireless work of the coaching and support staff, looks set to prime GT basketball for another strong season.

Representing state and country! Coinciding with the improvement in the school’s Basketball program, there has been the rise in state and national representation. During the June-July holiday’s, Year 8 boys Max Mackinnon and Dom Hayes were a part of the Under 15 State Emerging side that toured and played games in the USA. During Week 1 of Term 3, Year 9 student David Eltima and Year 10 students Lachlan Blackburn and Quincee Fepulaei, represented Queensland at the Under 16 National Basketball Championships in Perth, with Lachlan being named captain of the team. Additionally Year 8 student, Geordan Papacostas and Year 9 student Ose Motuga have recently been drafted into Basketball Australia’s National Performance Program, which prepares young Australian athletes for future participation in junior and senior Nation teams. This is not only a testament to the quality of program, but also a nod to the boy’s tremendous work ethic and discipline to their craft.

Good luck this weekend to all Basketball teams, players and coaches, and good luck to the GT Chess and Rugby programs in their first round of fixtures against Nudgee College.

Gents, welcome back to Term 3. I hope the holiday break was enjoyable and relaxing. It is important that the transition from holiday mode to school mode happens instantly this week. Week 1 is integral, as it sets the tone for the term; we do not want to be falling behind from the first week, missing important knowledge for exams and assignments. It is very easy to slack off this term, but it is a test of character to stay focussed and work hard until September.

The St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace and St Joseph’s Nudgee College Rugby rivalry commenced 126 years ago and since then, each time the red and black has battled the blue and the white it has been much more than just a game of rugby.

Players participating on the weekend have their own chance to create history. The St Joseph’s Cup is won by the school that wins the most games across the day. In 2017, this is something that we all must strive for. In 2004, the Terrace 1^st XV was victorious at home against Nudgee, and since then the only victory was in 2016 winning at home. In 36 years Terrace is yet to defeat Nudgee at Ross Oval. Last year, following our historic 1^st XV victory, Isaac Lucas (Fly half for the 1^st XV) was interviewed and said:

the Terrace supporters have become the 16^th man all year and it’s so helpful out there.

This weekend the 1^st XV will be chasing history trying to break the 36-year drought. It will not be easy, although if all Terracians in the community embrace the day and flood the hill at Ross Oval in red and black and become the 16^th man, the Terrace 1^st XV might just create history. Nudgee will certainly fill the grandstand and make their presence felt on Nudgee’s home turf. Although I have no doubt that all Terrace boys from Year 5 to Year 12 will certainly turn Nudgee’s fortress into an atmosphere filled with Terrace Spirit.

Prior to the 1^st XV, the 1^st V will be taking on Nudgee at Nudgee at 12.30pm. All the boys attending 1^st XV should support the 1^st V as they continue to stamp their dominance against Nudgee in their own back yard. Be a part of history this Saturday.

This term the TLG have a wonderful schedule of events coming up including the TLG Meeting this coming Monday, the Mothers’ Retreat on 7 August and the Spring Luncheon on 1 September.

TLG Meeting | 17 July | 9am | GT125: Mrs Julie Quinn Dean of Studies our Guest Speaker

All are invited and welcome to attend the next TLG meeting, which will be at 9am this coming Monday in GT125. Our guest speaker is Mrs Julie Quinn, Dean of Studies. Julie is going to be focusing on Year 12 matters – University applications, OPs, the QCS program and parenting our boys in their final stages of schooling. While this is primarily a Senior topic, it would also be useful for parents of boys in the higher grades looking forward – or perhaps you may have senior daughters at other schools and would benefit from this information too. All are welcome to join us for morning tea in the Founders Room afterwards. Please email marianneeadie16@gmail.com to let her know if you will be attending for catering purposes.

Save the Date | 7 August | Mothers Retreat

Be sure to put this wonderful morning of tai chi into your diaries where you will relax and relieve stress and anxiety with calming meditation in motion. We have two instructors from the Australian Academy of Tai Chi in New Farm coming to guide us in a group session under the jacarandas at Tennyson. Afterwards we will be serving a delicious range of fresh produce and cold pressed juices from Kiss the Berry, a business based at Southbank. A link for registering your attendance will be forwarded via an email next week and the cost of attending will be $30 for the morning. No need to wear your active wear for this. Just comfortable clothes and footwear will do so you can easily go about your day afterwards feeling rejuvenated and revived.

Spring Luncheon | 1 September | Hillstone, St Lucia

The Spring Luncheon is on this term, 1 September, Week 8 (of the 10 week term). The cost of the tickets will be $125 which includes canapés and a complimentary glass of Veuve Clicquot on arrival, a two course meal with complementary wines on tables, special cash bar prices, great entertainment and raffle tickets to win amazing prizes. McKinney’s Jewellers have kindly offered a $5000 voucher towards our fundraising for the event. Thank you once again to McKinney’s for their generosity towards our TLG functions. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.

Tennyson Canteen

A big thank you to everyone who helped in the canteen on Saturday for the Rugby trial matches against BGS. It was a beautiful winter’s day and Tennyson was looking spectacular – a great start to the season and perfect setting for the launch. Thank you also to the Rugby Support Group who put on a great celebration for the boys and families to enjoy the start to the season ahead.

Remember that all help is most welcomed in the canteen and that you can sign up for a time slot via the link sent out with the game schedules by the Sport Office on Thursdays. If you haven’t signed up and see that we are having a busy snap, by all means feel free to pop in for a short patch to help get us through. We would really appreciate it.
