Treacy House

Treacy House Crest

The Treacy House crest owes much of its symbolism to the Irish background of Brother Patrick Ambrose Treacy. The crest is bordered with shamrocks as a symbol of the trinity of the Catholic Church.

The Christian and Australian foundations of Treacy House are emphasised by the colonial emblem, a sign of the oppressed Irish convicts in Australia. The eagle forms part of the original Treacy coat-of-arms. It represents our pursuit towards the goals held by devoted Terrace students.Scholastic achievement is represented by the book of knowledge and spiritual fulfilment is symbolised by the Celtic Cross. Our Australian heritage is remembered in the aboriginal motifs found on the eagle.

Special thanks are due to Duncan Spender, Senior 1992, who designed the crest and to Mr Luke Harvey, staff member, who produced the final product.
