PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES FOR
ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

Performance assessment is regarded as an assignment - hence the usual College procedures and regulations for assignments apply where relevant. Performance includes practical, presenting and forming assignments.

DUE DATE:

  1. The due date for a performance will be noted on the assignment sheet and in the assignment calendar.
  2. The date given will be the date of the first group's performance.
  3. Where there is a public performance, prior assessment will be done in class on the due date.

ORDER OF PERFORMANCE

  1. The order of performances will be selected randomly and will be announced one week prior to the first performance.
  2. In the case of an improvisation performance, the order of performance will be randomly selected on the day of the performance, or, if possible, on the previous day.

DOCUMENTATION

  1. Written components of practical performance must be submitted on the day of the first performance, together with the criteria sheet.
  2. Failure to submit the written work required will result in performance grades being lowered by two whole grades (For example: A C)

STUDENT ABSENCE

  1. If a student is absent on the scheduled day, a doctor's certificate must be given to the subject coordinator (years 11 and 12 students) or a note from parents (years 8 - 10)
  2. The absence of one member of a group will affect the performance of the whole group. The other group members will still be required to perform at the end of the scheduled performances. If possible, the group may repeat their performance when the absent student returns.
  3. If a student is absent on the scheduled day the next group will be required to perform on that day.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT:

  • Any costumes, props, set, music, lighting etc which is required for performance must be organised well in advance.

KNOWING YOUR WORDS:

  • Failure to learn the lines necessary for your performance, or the use of scripts or palm cards will result in a grade of D or E.
