PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES FOR
REVIEW OF STUDENT WORK

REVIEW OF STUDENT WORK

Rationale

A partnership of learning where student, teacher and parents share responsibility in the attempt for each student to reach his unique potential is enhanced through open co-operation. The College welcomes all parents to review any and all assessment items completed by their son/s.

The security of assessment items is a serious responsibility of the College to ensure the integrity of assessment. The requirement of the Board of Senior Secondary School Studies for schools to maintain student work burdens schools with a further responsibility to store complete student folios so that the fullest and latest work may be reviewed by the Board of Senior Secondary School Studies if required.

Process

Years 8, 9 and 10

Assessment items / instruments will always be reviewed closely in class to encourage new learning from mistakes. Many pieces of assessment may be routinely sent home for parents to review. All assessment pieces will be sent home following a simple written request addressed to the class/subject teacher. The return of work may be requested by that teacher. The clear expectation from the College is that parents ensure that to the best of their knowledge no photocopies are taken and encourage the swift return of work by their sons.

Years 11 and 12

Assessment items / instruments will always be reviewed closely in class to encourage new learning from mistakes. The requirement of the Board of Senior Secondary School Studies to maintain complete student folios prevents the movement of student work off site.

All student work is available for review by parents and students on site at Terrace. Enquiries should be addressed to Mrs Dianne Gamble (Studies Secretary) 07 3214 5225.

Forty eight hours notice is required to retrieve folios from file. A comfortable room will be booked for your convenience. Your son's own work, criteria / markings schemes and criteria / mark sheets are available for review through this process.

Mrs Julie Quinn
(Dean of Studies)
