Term 1 2008

Week 1 Tuesday 30th January Year 5 Swimming Orientation Afternoon.

At this session information will be provided about the CIC swimming program including the stroke development program conducted by Mrs Margaret Fogarty.

The School Squad in 2008 will be broken into 2 squads merging both CIC & GPS into ability levels rather than age groups. This will enable the coaches to enhance the training environment for all swimmers.

Red Squad -will focus on stroke correction, skills and preparing for the squad training environment. These sessions will be conducted by an experienced stroke correction coach on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6.45am-8am. All year 5 swimmers will begin in this group until they have met the swimming standards required to join the Black Squad. Some year 5 swimmers will have already achieved these standards and will move to the Black squad after the first week of term 1. Red squad is open to all students in years 5-8 who wish to improve their swimming ability in all four strokes.

6.45am - 8am

* No breakfast is supplied

Black Squad - is aimed at the swimmer who has met the requirements of Red squad and is ready to train in a squad environment. Swimmers may be in years 5-12. Training will occur three times a week on Monday, and Friday mornings from 6.15am-7.45am and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3.15pm-4.30pm. Boys in years 8-12 must also attend the GPS Squad session on Wednesday mornings.
