CIC TENNIS REPORT 2007

The CIC Tennis season has concluded for another year and what a fantastic year it was. It was always going to be difficult to match the results of 2006 but the boys trained hard and the results were very positive. Each team played great Tennis all the way through the season and every player in every team has stepped up and improved on their Tennis form from last year.

The results show that 3 of our 8 teams went through undefeated and the other 5 teams maintained a positive win-loss record. The undefeated teams where teams 1, 2, and 5. Congratulations to all the players in these teams on an outstanding effort. The most amazing thing was that these teams were completely dominant and displayed a quality of tennis that was incredible. Teams 4 and 8 (our Grade 5 teams) did us proud with solid performances week in week out. It is always a hard transition for a Grade 5 player coming into such a competitive environment. All players from these teams learned about every aspect of CIC Tennis and will be much more prepared in the years to come. Teams 3, 6 and 7 played exceptional Tennis also, with great results most weeks.

There where some special highlights of the season which deserve mention. Team 1 only dropped 3 sets throughout the year. Haadin Bava did not drop one game and won most matches without even dropping a point!! Henry Reinhardt in one match only dropped 3 points in the set, which must be a record for any Grade 5 player! All teams going 8 wins - 0 losses to BBC - one of last years toughest opponents, with Team 5 winning by only 1 game against BBC. And finally the big improvement overall was the quality of doubles play by all players.

The success of the season would not have been possible without the help and support of the many parents who got involved each week. Thank you from all the players and members of the Terrace Tennis Staff. Also a big thank you must go out to Miss. Kitty Munro who organised the boys each week and did a fantastic job. Well done Kitty! Congratulations and special thanks to my assistant coach for the season Mr. Innes Harriman. Mr. Harriman did a fantastic job coaching the players and continues to develop his own technical skills along the way. Finally thanks again to Mr. Michael Broad whose support makes a big difference each year.

Well done to all the players in CIC and Super League this year, it has been one to remember!

Mr. Guy Fisher
