Music

Terrace has a great tradition of delivering excellent programs in Music education and performance.  These programs offer tuition on all orchestral instruments either in private lessons or in small groups of up to three students.

Music lessons are delivered by experienced and dedicated teachers, who strive to deliver the best learning environment and experience. Terrace Music offers students the option of undertaking external practical examinations, or to simply pursue music for learning and enjoyment purposes.  There are abundant opportunities to perform in one of the many ensembles at the College.

Musical activities provide students with important experiences that can help them develop physical coordination, timing, memory, visual, aural and language skills in the company of others. They gain important experience with self-paced learning, mental concentration and a heightened personal and social awareness.

Research studies show a strong parallel between music and academic development and achievement, at all stages of learning.  In the same way, it has been noted that schools with strong Music programs may enjoy corresponding, positive effects on academic performance and social behaviour.  

A high quality Music program, such as the one developed over many years at Terrace, enhances the College's community profile and educational reputation.  

Many Terracians have passed through the Music program and developed their skills, art and performance, going on to achieve great things in wider society – vocationally, in music of all styles and genres and through a broad spectrum of cultural pursuits.  We are very proud of the legacy of our program and the lifelong benefits it may bestow – and encourage all students to embrace the opportunities offered.
