                        Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID)

The Terrace Family is committed to the formation and education of young men who will make a difference through service of God, the community and each other. The College’s Masterplan is designed to ensure that we provide a learning environment that supports our Mission.

In 2020 the College acquired 184 St Paul’s Terrace for the purpose of developing a new and innovative learning space. This process is well underway, with the College’s architect and project manager liaising with key staff to develop this site.

WHAT IS A MINISTERIAL INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGNATION (MID)?

A Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) provides an alternative planning approval pathway to a development approval under the Planning Act 2006. MIDs are assessed by the State Government and decided by the Planning Minister.

Rather than approving a detailed plan, the MID approves a development envelope over the land, similar to a masterplan. The designation lasts for six years, then applies to the site in perpetuity once the development (or the first stage) has occurred. MID approvals do not provide the applicant or submitters with appeal rights.

Once in place, no further planning approvals are required for the scope of works included in the MID.

Our MID application seeks approval for a development ‘envelope’ that covers all of the College’s property in Spring Hill. This includes Main Campus, Westcourt, Waterford Place and 184 St Paul’s Terrace.

                        2022 UPDATE

The College’s MID application has been amended in response to feedback received by the community and the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning during the consultation stage. The revised MID covers existing buildings located on the Main Campus, Westcourt and Waterford Place 1, and a new building - Waterford Place 2 located at 184 St Pauls Tce.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we, as members of the Terrace Family, acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of our Nation. We acknowledge, respect and give gratitude to the Traditional Owners of the Countries on which our campuses are located. We pay our respects to Ancestors, Elders, and leaders of the future as well as to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members of our Terrace Family. We value the knowledge of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and recognise and honour their stories, cultures, and achievements as we walk together for mutual liberation and a truth-telling history for all Australians. Inspired by the Edmund Rice Education Touchstones, we are called to be people of knowledge, humility and wisdom who walk in solidarity with the First Peoples of our Nation for reconciliation, justice, equity and healing.
