A reflection on lessons learned | College Vice Captain, George Platt
As I sit here listening to the neighbours yelling, I know the State of Origin must be close, and I wish I was watching the game. Although I am swamped with study and an exam tomorrow, the Norman Clarke Concert all day last Sunday and the Nudgee round of Football on Saturday, I am truly living my best life! Sometimes, it is hard to see the positives when you are overwhelmed, but taking a little time to reflect has shown me the lessons I had to learn this week.
The 1st XI put up a valiant fight against Nudgee on the weekend. Even though the result did not go our way, I could not have been prouder of the boys on the field and everyone who came to show their support. The boys left absolutely everything out there on Ross Oval last weekend, but unfortunately, the ball didn’t roll our way. Through the pain of a loss, all of the boys who came to support stayed positive and supported the 1st XI at the end of the game. While it was a tough day to be a Terracian, I can easily say that it is one of my proudest.
On Sunday, I was proud to perform at the Norman Clarke Concert. The love of music is a real gift, and Mr Clarke has been instrumental in allowing many of us the experience of playing in ensembles through his generosity. I hope the audience at the two packed concerts was able to share the joy we get from music.
So, as we head into exams, do your best but embrace all the different opportunities we have to learn, whether in the classroom, on the sporting field or the stage – Dare to go Beyond!
