Science in the Spotlight | Years 5 and 6
This morning, Years 5 and 6 students exercised their innovation and creativity at the annual Science Celebration. Hosted in the Campbell Centre, students had the opportunity to showcase their hard work throughout Term 3 and discover the findings of their classmates.
Year 5 | Experimentally Speaking
In preparation for this year’s Science Celebration, Year 5 students were to experiment and document their findings in a scientific write-up. Students first made an educated guess, or hypothesised, what might happen in their experiments before collecting the relevant materials and actioning their method. Taking into consideration how different variables (such as material types, temperatures and time of day) may change the outcome of their experiments, students presented their findings creatively for their teachers, families and peers to enjoy.
Congratulations to 5A, who were announced the winning class for the second year in a row!
Year 6 | Eco-Driven
Taking a STEM approach this year, students in Year 6 were tasked with creating a sustainable vehicle for the future. Looking ahead to 2050, each vehicle needed to be designed to transport resources across Australia. Students put their imaginations to the test with various ‘future-proof’ cars, trucks, trains and planes on display. Each presentation came with an equally insightful report, explaining the function and benefits of the students’ vehicle.
Well done to 6A, who were awarded the winning class! A fantastic effort by all involved.
Thank you to the families and staff who attended this year’s Science Celebration. It was an enjoyable morning to round out Term 3.
