Welcome to Term 4
As usual it is hard to believe we are on the wrap up of the school year with the commencement of the eight week term. Despite it being a short term, there are many things happening on the TLG front. Here are some details.
Year 7 2018 Orientation
Tonight we welcome the Year 7 Students for 2018 at 5pm. Thank you to the Year 7 parents who have kindly offered their assistance in welcoming our new high school students and their families.
Inter-House Athletics Carnival – Tennyson
Tomorrow our much anticipated Inter-House Athletics Carnival is on at Tennyson. As per previous years we have a full offer on at the canteen which is always popular with the boys, and staff. Details on food and prices have been distributed via social media this week. A very big thank you to all the families who are contributing to this big day with home bake or hands on behind the counter. It is a big team effort indeed.
TLG Annual General Meeting – Monday 9 October
On Monday we are holding the TLG AGM in the College Museum from 9am. We are hoping for a good turnout, as we will be voting on some changes to the meeting time and frequency of TLG meetings for 2018. We want the TLG to be inclusive and meet the needs of its members, so please come along and have your say. The Committee is proposing that TLG meetings are held once per term at 7.30am (apart from Term 1 where there will be a meeting at the start of the school year, and a second later in the term). This will mean five TLG meetings per year (down from nine). Meeting dates will be circulated once confirmed and will be published in the 2018 Terrace calendar. If you cannot attend the TLG AGM and would like to vote on the proposed changes please contact the TLG Secretary at marianneeadie16@gmail.com.au.
Canteen Convenor 2018 and beyond
We are looking to fill the position of Canteen Convenor for Tennyson this term. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested in applying for this position, keep a look out in the forthcoming Newsletters and on the Jobs @ Terrace page on the website. TLG Thanksgiving Mass – Friday 3 November 9.30am
A special event in the year is our Thanksgiving Mass in the Chapel of the Holy Family, followed by a celebration lunch for the Year 12 Mothers to be held at Gambaro Hotel and Restaurant. Thank you to Lorilie Cunningham, Helen Smethurst, Paula Galloway, Christine Franzmann and Meaghan Round for organising this memorable function for our Senior mothers at a very emotional time for them.
Staff Christmas Lunch – Tuesday 28 November
The annual Staff Christmas Lunch is a wonderful celebration of our staff in appreciation for all their efforts and support of our boys throughout the year. The TLG hosts this directly through the generosity of our families with contributions of food, time and monetary donations. More details on this will be distributed in the next few weeks along with links to volunteer sign-on pages.
