Principal’s Message | Dr Michael Carroll

Dear Members of the Terrace Family,

On Monday night the Terrace Family were witness to an outstanding Celebration of Excellence. The evening certainly highlighted the tremendous range of skill and talent that resides within this community. My congratulations to all involved with the evening and in particular, congratulations to all of our prize winners. A special mention to the 2017 College Dux, Patrick Sharkey and the Proxime Accessit, Callum Waite. Well done gentlemen.

As the end of the year draws closer, so too does the time for our Year 12 students. They are now on their final exam block and on Friday 17 November they, along with their parents, will attend the Valedictory Assembly, Mass, and Dinner.

As one group of Year 12 students prepare to depart, another prepares for their journey as the Seniors of 2018. Last week I published the College Captains and House Captains for 2018. This week I congratulate the 2018 leaders for Rowing and Swimming.

Captain of Swimming: Charles Williamson

Vice Captains of Swimming: Tom Dearlove and Oliver Milne

Captain of Rowing: Nick Rex

Vice Captains of Rowing: Max Crowe and Harry McGrath

Tomorrow, the College welcomes back our Vintage Terracians. To qualify to be a Vintage Terracian, these gentlemen must have left Terrace at least 50 years ago. It is always a wonderful day as an important part of our College history assembles together in College Hall. This year is more significant as tomorrow I will commission the refurbishment of College Hall. This year, work has been undertaken to refurbish College Hall, both internally and externally. This has been an extensive and expensive project. My sincere thanks to the Terrace Ladies Group for their contribution of $125 000 and the Gregory Terrace Old Boys’ Association for their contribution of $25 000 of financial support towards this project. The Old Boys have committed to additional funding over the next two years to complete this project.

Finally, this week, I again congratulate all of the young men who performed at the Celebration of Excellence or who were prize recipients. Well done.

God Bless,

Dr Michael Carroll
College Principal
