Principal’s Message | Dr Michael Carroll

Dear members of the Terrace Family,

Term 3 has drawn to an end, and I wish to acknowledge and thank the Terrace Family for the way you have embraced this term.  Traditionally Term 3 is a busy and full term, and this year has been no different.  However, the work, dedication and support of many has ensured it has been a successful term on many fronts.

The students have been undertaking exams this week and the staff will complete the marking process on Friday.  Term 3 reports will be released in Week 1 of next term. There will be no parent-teacher meetings in Term 4.

The GPS co-curricular program has now been completed for the term.  My thanks and congratulations to all who have been involved with Chess, Basketball and Rugby in Term 3.  I believe that ‘on and off the field’ all the programs this term have been very successful.  Track and Field preparations are underway, with other activities also gearing up for next season.

The building works will be continuing over the holiday period and we should see some significant progress upon our return next term.

On Friday 7 September, over 500 people descended upon Brisbane City Hall for Terralicious 2018.  It was a wonderful event where plenty of fun was had and money was raised to support the College and Conor Tweedy.  My thanks to the TLG and Mrs Jo Evans and her team for such a great day.  Over $50 000 was raised at the event, including a very generous donation from the Boulton family.  After winning the main prize of a Hyundai car, Mrs Sue Boulton donated the proceeds back to the Conor Tweedy Appeal.  Thank you to the Boulton Family.

My thanks to the extraordinary number of people who have been supporting Conor Tweedy and his family this term.  Conor continues to work very hard at his rehabilitation program and has also continued to have a presence at College activities.  This will continue next term.  Many people have been supporting the Conor Tweedy Appeal in a variety of ways.  The College will be hosting a Long Lunch at Tennyson on Saturday 24 November, with all funds raised going to the Conor Tweedy Appeal.  It will be an extraordinary event and I encourage you to book and bring your friends along.  Details of the event and how to book will be advertised via the College’s various media platforms.  I hope to see many of you there.

Finally, as we prepare for the holiday period, I remind families that I will be undertaking knee replacement surgery and will be on leave until Monday 12 November.  In my absence, Mr Chris Ryan will assume the role of Acting College Principal.  I thank Chris for accepting this role as it allows me to have this surgery. I look forward to returning in early November in full health.

Have a great week.
God Bless.
