Principal’s Message | Dr Michael Carroll

Dear members of the Terrace Family,

This Saturday, Terrace will compete in the Head of the River.  Our rowers have been working very hard throughout the season and have recorded some excellent results so far.  Although there is a full round of Cricket and Volleyball scheduled, Terrace will have plenty of supporters cheering for our rowers.  Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Last Friday night, our swimmers performed very well, with both the Junior and Senior teams recording fifth place at the GPS Swimming Championships.  We were very proud of our swimmers and the crowd support was again very good.  Congratulations to all of our swimmers and coaches for a great season.  A special mention to Thomas Neill (Year 12) who won four races, including a GPS record. Another highlight was the final event of the carnival, the 6x50m Open Freestyle Relay, where our swimmers recorded a magnificent win for Terrace.  Well done to all involved.  I would like to point out that Conor Tweedy was poolside to support Tom and the entire swimming team.  Thank you Conor, your courage and strength continue to be an inspiration to all of us.

Next Tuesday 19 March, the College will celebrate St Joseph’s Day with our St Joseph’s Day Liturgy.  St Joseph, as our patron, displayed the qualities of dignity and respect throughout his life and is a role model for our Terrace Gentlemen.

Over the coming weeks, students across all year levels will be finalising assignments.  It is a time of potential stress for students and families.  The assessment calendars identify when all assessment is due and therefore allow planning to occur.  As the term draws closer to the end, it is even more important that all students focus a little more on their studies.  Good luck to all students.

Finally this week, tomorrow is National Anti-Bullying Day. As the Terrace Family, it is very important that all of us do what we can to respect each other and treat people with dignity.  On Friday, the Terrace Family will stand together against bullying.  Each of us has a responsibility in this area.

Have a great week
God Bless.
