Staff news

The Year 10 Immersion program is extraordinary in itself, but I would add that that the commitment and expertise that the Waterford staff bring to this program annually is also extraordinary. As a community, we are blessed by the dedication and generosity of the staff who make these terrific programs possible. I would also like to acknowledge the families of the staff, particularly those of staff who travel internationally and for some distance nationally.  These families make a significant contribution to the success of these programs through their sharing of partners, mums and dads for this time. On behalf of the community, I thank and acknowledge the staff of Waterford, including all teaching and non-teaching staff who made the 2019 Immersion program such a great experience for our students.

As mentioned last week, Mrs Karyn Negus will be taking leave for the remainder of the year. We wish Mrs Negus all the very best for this time. Joining us for Term 4 to facilitate Mrs Negus’s classes will be Ms Harriet O’Leary. Ms O’Leary is joining us from the United Kingdom where she has been teaching Science at all year levels. We look forward to welcoming Ms O’Leary and wish her all the best for her first Australian summer!

This week we have welcomed Mr Matthius Ottermann to the Information Technology Services team. Mr Ottermann will mainly work as a part of our support team for staff and student IT services and behind the scenes in the management of these services.

A reminder that Mrs Kaylene Campbell and Mr Sonny Ali finish their time with us at the end of this week as Mr Luke Robba and Mr Brendan Ganley will return from long service leave next term. Thank you and congratulations to Mr Josh Kersevani and Mr Innes Harriman who have acted as Coordinator of English Years 7 to 9 and Program Leader of Years 5 and 6 during this time.

I join the extended Terrace Family in congratulating Mr Damien Cuddihy on his appointment as Dean of Students. This appointment is well-deserved as Mr Cuddihy is a talented and experienced pastoral leader who will bring a strong relational approach, presence and knowledge of the Terrace context to the role.
