Principal’s Message | Dr Michael Carroll

Dear members of the Terrace Family,

It is somewhat hard to believe that Term 3 is finished. Traditionally it is a busy term both in and out of the classroom for students, staff and parents.  This year has been no different with much happening over the last ten weeks. To this end, I hope all within the Terrace Family take some time to recharge over the coming school holidays in preparation for the ‘dash home’ in Term 4.

Over recent weeks we have been involved with interviews for various positions. Whilst this process is continuing, I am pleased to communicate the following appointments:

Dean of Students -  Mr Damien Cuddihy
Enrolment Manager -  Mrs Jen Todd
Head of FacultyBusiness & Technology:  Mr Michael MacDermott
Head of FacultyHuman Movements:  Mr Rob Sweeper
Subject Coordinator – Literature:  Mrs Michelle George
Subject Coordinator– Junior Business:   Mr James Turner

Last Saturday saw the Term 3 GPS program finish with Chess, Basketball and Rugby games against Ipswich Grammar School. The Term 3 program has been successful with many students involved and excellent results across all three activities. My thanks and congratulations to the staff, coaches and managers involved and to all the players. A special thanks to Mr Tyron Mandrusiak, Mr Tom O’Malley and Mr Liam Herne for their coordination of these activities.

Winning premierships is only one key performance indicator that can be used to evaluate the success of a season. There are many others, including level of sportsmanship, number of wins, improvement from last season and participation levels. However, I do wish to acknowledge the 1st V Basketball team for their outstanding season. The win against Ipswich Grammar School on the weekend secured them the 1st V Basketball premiership for 2019. This is an outstanding result and a credit to the coaches and players. I congratulate the 1st V Basketball team on their success and acknowledge their hard work throughout the year. Well done.

Finally this week, I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday. I wish our musicians all the best as they travel to Switzerland and Italy and I look forward to everyone returning at the start of Term 4.

God Bless.
