Dean of Waterford | Mr Luke Gribble

Welcome to Term 4 at Waterford Place.

As Term 3 Reports have now been published, we have the opportunity to review, reflect and set goals for the final term at Waterford.  Today we gathered in Pastoral Care groups for Academic Mentoring. The boys were asked to complete their Study Plan for what will be a fast run to the end of the year. In the classroom, the expectations and subject matter are becoming more and more aligned with the Senior programs. For our young men, it is time to ensure that their engagement in the classroom, homework, study and revision techniques are refined to make the most of every opportunity.

As I write this article, we are preparing many of the Year 10 boys for one of their first leadership roles as a mentor to their little buddy at the Year 5, 2021 Orientation Evening. As parents and caregivers, you have come to know that our Pastoral Care and Formation programs are central to our College. We pride ourselves on growing an atmosphere of care, in which every student is valued and welcomed. This week we will welcome 150 future Terracians from a myriad of Brisbane primary schools. Our Buddy system has become such an important part of our College induction, encouraging positive relationships amongst our students. I am sure our Year 10 boys will do a wonderful job.

As parents and caregivers, I know you appreciate the support and assistance provided by our Waterford reception staff. Last week we welcomed Ms Paige Fitzpatrick to the team. Paige comes to us from St Margaret’s College.

A friendly reminder that if you would like to report your son’s absence from school, please contact Waterford Student Services via Waterfordplace@terrace.qld.edu.au or phone 3214 5400.
