Easter season

I extend a warm welcome to Term 2 to the Terrace Family. I hope you had a refreshing Easter break with family and friends. I take this opportunity to remind everyone that - although it may feel like Easter is finished for the year – the Easter weekend marks the beginning of the Easter season in the liturgical calendar. The 50-day period of this season in the church allows time to focus on the teachings of Jesus after the resurrection and for us to deeply connect with the changes that have occurred during Lent.

Lord, we pray that this Easter, we remember that Jesus suffered and died for us.  We give thanks for this ultimate sacrifice.  Have mercy on us as we continue our struggles so that we can do what Jesus asked us to do in John’s gospel – to have life and have it to the full.  Help us keep our eyes open to others who suffer at this time.  What sacrifices can we make for them?  Through walking the walk and talking the talk help us to know that we can make a difference by turning suffering into hope for others and for ourselves.  Amen

The Terrace Family received some sad news over the Easter break. Br Regis Hickey, the Christian Brother who wrote the biography of Br Patrick Ambrose Treacy, passed away aged 94. I had a close relationship with Regis and respected him very much. During my time as Treacy House Dean, I would often visit Regis with Treacy House Captains at the Viridian community in Boondall to learn and hear stories of Ambrose Treacy. He held Ambrose Treacy in the highest esteem. He was a source of great inspiration to other members of Treacy House and me, being especially integral to the formation of the Treacy House vision. Regis was full of wisdom and will be sorely missed. May he rest in eternal peace.

Live Jesus in our Hearts … Forever.

St Joseph … pray for us.
