Dean of Waterford | Mr Luke Gribble

As the Waterford journey for our current cohort comes to an end, I hope the young men of Waterford look back fondly on their 2021 experience.

And what a year we have had. This year, social distancing and mask wearing have become household terms as we continued to navigate the COVID-19 landscape. This year has proven that rallying together through uncertain times and being a part of a community provided the connection and support that we all need and helped us keep a sense of normality. I hope your son felt that sense of community at Waterford in 2021.

Whether it was building new friendships, volunteering for service opportunities, exploring new limits on Immersion, or delving into new concepts in the classroom, I hope each student takes away something positive from their Waterford experience.

In the new year, your sons will be back on Main Campus, returning to their House. I am confident that the boy who left the Main Campus at the end of Year 9 looks a lot different to the young man who will start his Senior school journey in January. The physical growth is obvious. What I hope becomes more apparent is that your son is more outward focused. More appreciative of the privileges he is given. More conscious of others and how he views them. If you are witness to that, then the Waterford journey has been a success.

To our current Year 9 students, soon to be Waterford young men, I look forward to welcoming you on Friday morning and again in the New Year.

I wish each of you an enjoyable summer break, a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!

Best wishes.
