Deputy Principal | Mr Damien Fall

As we reach the end of another action-packed academic year, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all in the Terrace Family who have contributed so much towards making 2021 a success. Both in and out of the classroom, a great deal has taken place and been achieved thanks to the combined efforts of so many in our community. As always, I pass on the gratitude of all families to our dedicated and hard-working teachers who give so much of themselves to benefit the students in their care. I know they will enjoy a well-earned break. As will be outlined by Dr Carroll, several staff will finish their time at Terrace this week, and the entire staff look forward to farewelling them at the end of next week. Included are Mr Geoff Ludlow and Mr Peter Finch, long-serving teachers who enter retirement with a mix of excitement and sadness. I wish all our departing staff the very best, thank them for their contribution, and wish them well for the future.

A group within the Terrace Family who rarely receive the recognition they deserve is our non-teaching staff. This is a large group of staff, numbering around 100, and their contribution to the College is significant and incredibly diverse. Whether they work in administration, finance, book hire, the uniform shop, maintenance, IT, compliance, human resources, catering, development, sport, culture, archives, communications, sponsorship or any number of other important positions, they are the backbone of the College, allowing the teaching and learning process to go ahead smoothly. We thank these special people for all they do. Some will continue to work through the holidays, but I hope that each of our non-teaching staff gets some opportunity to have a break from the routines of College life. We are truly blessed to enjoy their personal and professional contribution.

At Valedictory, we said farewell to many families whose Terrace journey has ended as their youngest sons graduated. We wish those families well and assure them that they are always welcome at Terrace. For most families, who will be returning in 2022, I pass on my best wishes for a restful break and a Holy and Merry Christmas. I hope the holiday season is good to you and that it positions you well to commence the new year feeling refreshed. God’s blessings to all in the Terrace Family, and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
