Careers Expo | Ms Natalie Twine
As the word “expo” suggests, a Career Expo is designed to expose students to various options beyond school that may help them build the foundations of their working lives. On 8 May, our students can trade a gold coin for a sausage in bread and peruse our careers market to connect with higher education providers, potential employers, and a gap year organisation. Student publications collected at the Careers Expo can be a valuable resource for students, with summaries of courses and admissions information to spark interest and clarify entry requirements.
Our Expo is for everyone, including All Hallows' School students who joined us last year and added an invaluable social dimension to the event.
Students can also hear recent past Terrace and All Hallows' graduates discuss the pleasures and pitfalls of navigating the path towards higher education. Their insights can be invaluable for those looking to transition to university.
In the past, our Careers Expo has featured panel discussions encompassing four career areas: Business, Health, STEM, Law and Humanities and Creative Industries. This year, we are adding an extra panel. Students can hear from those working in Built Environment and Trades. We ask that students commit to just one-panel discussion. Recognising that many students are interested in various fields, we will film each panel and post the recordings on SPIRE for later viewing.
We are deeply indebted to the members of our College community, particularly many of our Old Boys, who willingly come to our Expo to share their career stories and insights. Harnessing the collective wisdom of others is central to the valuable guidance that the Expo offers.
So, circle 8 May on your calendar and linger in Duhig Place after school that day. Pocket a gold coin and summon your curiosity. A world of opportunity awaits your consideration. The Career Expo might even change your life!
