Round 8 v IGS

Saturday was a good weekend of results for the Cricket and Volleyball programs in their scheduled round of fixtures v IGS. Both programs produced strong results across the board, winning the majority of matches against their opposition. It is very pleasing to see all boys focusing on finishing their respective seasons off strongly – regardless of how they have gone during the season. Special mention to all the young men who regularly play in the supplementary games on the weekends when the scheduled opposition do not have the equal number of teams. Judging by the tweets that are sent in by parents, the boys are simply enjoying playing the games with their mates and trying as hard as they can to have a win.

It is always refreshing to remember that the fun element of sport should always be paramount in the boys' endeavours when representing the school.

Two flagship teams of the programs both had strong victories on the weekend, which sees both teams sitting towards the top of their respective premiership ladders.

Volleyball 1st VI

A strong 3-0 victory over IGS has them sitting in second position on the ladder and they are sweating the result this weekend. If things go their way, we will see them finish in first place and a tied premiership. If not, then outright second – both placings a fitting reward for their efforts and commitment to the season.

Cricket 1st XI

A fantastic recovery from three wickets down in the first innings and within the allocated overs to secure a bonus point victory. Saturday's result was an indication of eleven young men who worked hard together – as they have done all season.  A great team performance. Currently these boys are sitting in third position on the ladder and it is very important for them to put a strong statement out this weekend to finish their season off strongly.
