Welcome to Week 1 and the return of our European tour group.   

The 10-day tour started in Switzerland and finished in Italy. Highlights included performances at the United Nations in Geneva, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Assisi and workshops at the Florence Conservatory. This all culminated in the participation in a mass at the Vatican for our musicians and choristers. Congratulations to our string musicians and choristers, who acquitted themselves so admirably.

Battle of the Bands

On Friday 20 September the Terrace Rock band participated in the Battle of the Bands, coming away with Gold. This was our first time participating in this event and it was a great outcome for our boys. Thank you to Mr Michael Grabbe for his hard work with the band.

Holiday workshops

During the break, Music at Terrace held workshops for rhythm section musicians from the four Big Bands, partnering with staff from the JMC Music Academy. Many thanks to Mr Graham Ritchie for his part in this. Exam workshops for upcoming external music exams, for both Brass and Percussion students were also held. Our thanks to Mr Brad Esbensen, Mr Adrian Head, Mr Zac Brankovich, Mr Michael Grabbe and Mr Sam Hewerdine.

Congratulations are also in order for Jack Gardiner who participated in the Australian Honours Ensemble Programme (AHEP) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
