Dean of Students | Mr Damien Fall

There will be a number of significant, temporary staffing changes within the pastoral team in Term 4 this year.  With Dr Carroll taking leave at the beginning of next term, Mr Chris Ryan will assume the role of Acting Principal and I will move to Acting College Dean.  Mr Damien Cuddihy will move to the role of Acting Dean of Students for the first five weeks of Term 4.  Mr Steven Hohn will move to Dean of Waterford Place for this time and his role as Mahoney House Dean will be filled by Mr Dwayne Hoy.  While this means there are multiple changes to our pastoral team for the first five weeks of next term, we are very confident about the quality of people stepping in.  Please feel free to contact whoever you feel most comfortable dealing with, if you require any assistance regarding your son’s pastoral journey.

I need to mention that a number of students’ haircuts only just made it to the end of term.  It is the responsibility of every student to ensure he returns on day one of the new term with a haircut that meets the College’s guidelines, but most will obviously need parental assistance with this.  While I understand that some families will be heading away on holidays, this does not change the need to ensure students’ haircuts are sorted out before the return to school.  We will need to apply a consequence to any student who fails to meet our expectations with this important matter.

With the weather warming up noticeably and many students returning to wearing shorts, attention turns to socks.  There seem to be many pairs of socks that have become too old and need to be replaced.  As a general rule, if socks don’t come all the way up to the bottom of the knee and won’t stay up, they need to be retired.  As with many aspects of school life, socks are a small but very important matter that we expect students to get right.  Term 4 will see us focus on this matter and we ask that students ensure they work with us and wear the uniform correctly.  Perhaps now is a good time to invest in a few new pairs of socks.

Finally, on behalf of the College Pastoral Team, best wishes to all of our families for the holidays.  There are a lot of tired students and staff at the moment and I’m sure everyone will enjoy the break.  I look forward to a positive and productive final term of 2018.
