The McMillan-Dethlefs Trophy Debate

Last year, All Hallows’ School and Gregory Terrace commenced a new opportunity for our senior debaters to engage in debating social issues. The McMillan-Dethlefs Trophy debate was established to continue the challenge to the students of both schools to have a greater awareness of social justice and advocacy. This year’s debate will be held on Thursday 28 February from 6pm in the Claver Hall at All Hallows’ School. The topic for this year’s debate is: That detention should be removed in Queensland as a penalty for young people. We would love to see supporters from the Terrace Family come along to celebrate this great opportunity for students of both schools.

Middle School Musical – Madagascar - From Director Rachel Head

A group of 50 enthusiastic boys gathered in the Billet Street Drama Studio to begin the audition process.  Starting with some small group work involving animal characterisation and physicality, we kicked off the afternoon with a cold read of a portion of the script.  It was great to see the boys making some bold choices about their physicality!

We also had the opportunity to work on singing.  Here we focused on projection and the ability to quickly pick up a melody.  It was a real thrill to hear the boys embrace the opportunity and sing with such gusto.

The Wednesday rehearsal continued with singing, where students looked at Together Forever and I Like to Move it Move it.

I am really looking forward to working with the students and staff to produce a spectacular show.
