Rowing

Congratulations to all the boys that represented Terrace so well at The Head of the River last Saturday at Wyaralong. The event is a highlight in the GPS Calendar and a great number of supporters from the College took the opportunity to attend with their bye weekend in Cricket and Volleyball coinciding with the championships.

The Rowing results are results on the day, preseason form and placings do not come into any calculations. All of the boys tried their hardest – for some there was heartbreak with mishaps in technique resulting in gear failure, for some the pressure became too much and the best performance was not available on the day, while other crews recorded strong placings and first across the line.

Congratulations to the Year 10 5th and Year 10 2nd Quad for their great wins on the day and to the Year 11 3rd VIII and to Year 10 3rd Quad who recorded strong placings as well.

The 1st VIII finished fourth in a very strong field – a great row with the boys closing in quickly on third place. Overall the program finished in fourth place.

Support Groups

Many thanks to the Swimming and Rowing Support Groups for the organisation and support of the boys in these two championship programs. Both activities celebrated their communities with a dinner event on the weekend on Friday and Saturday evenings respectively. Thank you to both groups for organising such wonderful events.

Cricket

The Cricket program was exceptionally busy over the weekend even though it was a scheduled GPS bye weekend. Mr Copelin and Mr O’Malley work very hard in trying to give the boys as many game experiences as possible. Fixtures against Downlands, BBC, ATC, BGS and NC were organised and, even though there were continual showers over the day the clear majority of games were competed.
Well done to all the boys that played – with two weeks to go in the season it is important that the boys finish strongly, especially if teams are scheduled to travel at any time. Representing the College is for the full nine weeks and boys need to balance their time and their study commitments. 'No shows' at games due to simply not being bothered to turn up or using study as an excuse is not acceptable – plan your time to complete both areas to the best of your ability.

Sign On

Boys must sign on for Term 2 activities – even if you have just completed Term 1 activities and you are doing the same activity in Term 2 – you still need to sign on. It does not automatically roll over.

Please go to Parent Lounge to sign on.
