Our thanks to Mr Esbensen and the Terrace Jazz Combo, who provided music for Mrs Quinn’s farewell at Tennyson on Saturday.

Congratulations to all our recent AMEB candidates who sat exams in the last week. There were 88 boys who sat Practical Music and Speech and Drama exams. Bravo!

A few important notes:

• Tomorrow the Terrace Choir will be singing in St Stephen’s Cathedral for the Year 12 Valedictory. They will depart the College at 4pm for a 5pm service.
• All Year 6 students who are not continuing on with Co-curricular Music after this year, will be handing back instruments in Weeks 7 and 8 in class time.
• As the end of the year approaches and we begin planning for 2019, could you please notify the Music Department as soon as possible of any enrolment changes to your son’s lessons for 2019; students currently enrolled in the program will automatically roll over. During these final weeks and early in the new year, you will be receiving information regarding lessons, and ensembles.

Premier Ensembles Camp

Preparations are underway for the Premier Ensembles Camp in Staff Week, January 2019. This will be held both at the College and at QCCC Brookfield. The camp is a great opportunity for our musicians to engage in several days of intensive rehearsals to hone their skills and to develop a sense of teamwork and camaraderie within their ensembles. Please respond to the Parent Lounge request (once posted) by the due date as numbers need to be finalised with the camp site before the end of term.

Music Practice Hall

Music Practice Hall continues apace on Mondays. This is held in the Music Centre, from 3.15-5pm. I ask that you actively support this and support the boys in attaining quality practice habits. The response from participants to date has been very positive, with students seeing an immediate improvement in their playing.
