Dean of Students | Mr Damien Cuddihy

The Senior Induction and Opening Mass was held last Friday at the University of Queensland. I think it is important that all families are aware of the importance of this event to our Senior class and I would like to congratulate them on their induction as leaders within our community. If the start of the year is any indication, we are All in for a fantastic 2019.

Communication is the most important part of our Pastoral Care system. It is important that parents please contact us earlier rather than later. Sometimes, new parents may not be comfortable doing this. From my perspective, the earlier we are aware of any concern, the greater the chance we have to influence the outcome. It is in your son’s best interest that you do this. Hopefully, you had the opportunity to meet with your son’s Pastoral Care Mentor on Wednesday night to discuss his progress. I encourage you to keep in contact with your son’s House Dean or Pastoral Care Mentor if there is anything that you need us to know throughout the year.

I have received some positive feedback from members of the public concerning our students' conduct on public transport which has been pleasing. However, this has been outweighed by complaints about students not offering their seat to members of the public on crowded trains and buses. I expect Terrace Gentlemen to be the first to offer their seat to another passenger and ask that you please raise this with your sons if they catch public transport to and from school.

All students in Years 5-12 are required to have a Terrace bag. This is important as the care of the Book Hire books is important to all members of our community. If your son does not have a Terrace bag, please purchase one from the Terrace Shop. The Terrace Sports bag or Tour bags are not to be used as a school bag as they do not have the necessary reinforcement to protect the College’s text books. The sports bag may be used as the second bag to carry sports gear. Your cooperation with this matter is appreciated.
