Term 2 Sport

The busy and fast-paced term of Terrace sport will finish this Friday, with games against Ipswich Grammar School.  The 1st XI Soccer and 1st IV Tennis will be at home with play beginning at 12.30pm at Tennyson and Victoria Park courts respectively.

I would like to thank everyone involved in Terrace sport this term - the boys for their commitment to their teams, the parents for continuing to allow their sons to participate in what is a demanding sport schedule, and the coaches for their dedication to guiding and teaching young Terrace Gentlemen valuable life lessons, while participating in team and individual sports.

While our effort and commitment can’t be questioned in Cross Country, Gymnastics, Tennis and Football this term, Terrace will be seeking improvement across some key areas to complement the strong programs being run at the College.

Throughout the holidays, Term 3 in-season activities Basketball and Rugby (including the New Zealand Under 15 tour) will be putting the finishing touches to their pre-season preparation in anticipation of Round 1 against TGS.

Rugby

All players will participate in a pre-season 'Player Readiness' training program which will take place at Tennyson on Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 July. The purpose of the clinic is to prepare the boys for the upcoming GPS Rugby season. During the clinics, all elements of the 'Smart Rugby' and 'Confidence in Contact' program will be delivered by experienced coaches leading into our trial games against Nudgee College on Saturday 13 July at Tennyson.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no need to register as it is an expectation that all boys attend.

If you are not attending, you are you required to inform Mr Tyron Mandrusiak - TyronMandrusiak@terrace.qld.edu.au .

Boys who are not participating in the Term 2 Rugby Development Program and are not available for the clinic will be required to complete the 'Smart Rugby' and 'Confidence in Contact' training during the first two weeks of Term 3 training, prior to being eligible to play in Round 2.

Parent Lounge

Participation in the College sport program is growing and will continue to do so, due to the quality of the programming that allows for all levels of participation, in addition to the quality of coaching across the individual sports.  The flow of communication to a large number of families is extremely important in keeping everybody well informed. It is vital to ensure that you sign on electronically via the Parent Lounge for in-season and pre-season activities offered each term.

Attendance at training

I would ask that all boys commit to their attendance at training twice a week and present ready for their games and lead-up meets, whether at home or away. Representing the College is something to be valued. Being a team member who can be depended on entails sacrifice and commitment, no matter what level or activity.

Uniform

Please be aware that all directors, coordinators and coaches have been asked to monitor training and playing uniform.  We want to ensure the highest standards both on and off the field when representing the College.

Communication

To remain up to date, please download the College App and select to receive notifications for your son's selected activities. You will find updates, training schedules, team lists, playing schedules, game/meet locations and further information under the individual sport. Please note we are moving away from ongoing email communication, with the College App as the main source of communication.

Thank you

Finally, I would like to acknowledge all Year 12 Tennis, Football, Gymnastics and Cross Country students and thank them for their efforts over the years at Terrace. These young men have represented the College in their respective sports, some since 2011. The Terrace Community is very proud of you, and in your final year at Terrace, we want to publicly thank you for pulling on the red and black for the last time.

Have a great Term 3 in Terrace Sport.
