Acting College Dean | Mr Damien Fall

On the weekend, Chris Ryan and I went to visit Dr Carroll in hospital following his knee replacement surgery.  The procedure went very well, and he has commenced the process of rehabilitation.  It is fair to say that he finds it difficult to be a patient and, given that he was utterly bored after only 48 hours, the next few weeks of recuperation will be a challenge for him.  Michael passes on his thanks to all in the community for their good wishes and support.  He is determined to be back for our Senior Valedictory celebrations and the last few weeks of term.

Term 4 is always short and sharp with plenty of activity jammed into a short space of time, particularly for our Senior students, whose term includes only 20 teaching days.  The College Leadership Team and Pastoral Team invest heavily in the exit process for Year 12 students to ensure their finish is smooth and memorable.  We have been delighted with the way our Seniors have progressed this year and we look forward to them embracing their final weeks of school.

I was pleased to attend the Year 11 Semi Formal on Monday evening and see our young men enjoying the occasion.  It was great to see Conor Tweedy achieve his goal of attending and having a great night.  This week, Conor has returned to school for a day and will continue to attend one day per week for the remainder of the term.  The goal is for Conor to return to school full-time in 2019.  We are most excited about his return.

From an administration perspective, Term 4 is also about finalising staffing and the timetable for 2019.  We are making good progress in this regard and, with a few appointments still to be made, we will soon have our staff for next year settled.  I will continue to update the community as new staff join the Terrace Family in the coming weeks.

On behalf of the Terrace Family, I would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to all in the family who are experiencing difficult times.  In particular, Mr Mark Shori, who is a much-loved member of the Waterford Place teaching staff and remains unwell; we wish him the very best with his recovery.  Mr Brian Hastings, one of our Activities Coordinators, lost his father this week and we offer Brian our condolences at this sad time.  My best wishes to all in our community as we make our way through the final term of the year.
