Inter-House Track and Field

Unfortunately, due to the continued presence of wet weather in the lead up to Friday's Inter-House event, the final House Carnival for the year was cancelled. Showers throughout the day at Tennyson on Friday would not have been a pleasant experience for the 1600 boys and 200 staff.

The House Shield will be presented to the winning House at the upcoming Track and Field Presentation Assembly in a few weeks’ time.

Track and Field

The rain has also disrupted training opportunities for our boys at Victoria Park and QSAC, with training having to be cancelled and transferred – here’s hoping for a smoother run into the championships in a few weeks’ time. Last Friday, a number of boys competed at the TSS carnival at Southport – well done to the boys that made the journey and competed in some very light drizzly rain.

This Friday evening the Terrace Track and Field team will compete at the Terrace carnival at QSAC. Boys will be transported to the event, but parents are asked to collect their sons after their event.

Just a reminder that Track and Field training for the next few weeks takes 100% priority over all other training. There will be plenty of time for Rowing, Cricket and Volleyball after Track and Field.

Cricket

The Cricket season has got off to a very wet start with several sessions being cancelled due to the wet weather – although by the tweets coming out from the boys at the indoor facilities there still seems to be plenty of fun being had. Here’s hoping for some drier weather and the opportunity for some good skill development.

Rowing

The wet weather has not interfered with Rowing training and the boys have hit the water with full gusto. It has been unpleasant in the rain, but the boys have tackled their first week of training with plenty of spirit.

Volleyball

Trials and early sessions have kicked off this week for those boys hoping to make the Melbourne touring parties. Again, the skill levels on display are first rate and the boys are showing that they will be very competitive again this year.
