Australian Honours Ensemble Program

Over the recent holidays, three of our students participated in the inaugural Australian Honours Ensemble Program.  It is always encouraging to receive positive feedback regarding our young men. Below is a such a letter.

Dear Dr Carroll,
It is with great pleasure that I write to you regarding the inaugural Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP) run by Griffith University, Queensland Conservatorium last week.
The conductor, Mr Jason Barry-Smith, and I were impressed by the high level of musicianship of the students who sang in the AHEP choir. I met Scott Moran, Liam O’Connell, and Alexander O’Meally who contributed strongly in the tenor section. These gentlemen are also exemplary students in their manner and their behaviour. Their engagement, their dedication, and their respect for others is a credit to themselves, their parents and their school.
Congratulations on your fine Music program. These young men were truly up to national standard and should be acknowledged for their contribution.
Yours sincerely,
Maree (Hall)

Debating – QDU and Debating Trials

Debating is a program that does not cease it seems. This weekend will see the trials for the 2019 program.  All information has been communicated to students and parents via email.
The Debating Support Group held their AGM last Tuesday.  On behalf of the College, I would like to thank Mrs Kate Farrell (out going President) for her service to our program and welcome Ms Cate Clifford to the role of President.

Terrace Jazz Night

We are excited to bring a touch of the underground casino scene to our annual Jazz night this year.  For bookings, please click on the following link:      https://www.trybooking.com/boo...

Doors open at 6.30pm and the evening finishes at 9pm.

Please note the following information: this venue is underground and therefore access is via an internal, steep staircase. Guests wearing stilettos will need to take care moving into the venue.  The Brisbane City Council has advised us that access to this historic venue is not suited to those who have difficulty using stairs. Please take this into account when booking your tickets.

Placement Day

We are looking forward to having 109 of our new 2019 students visiting the College on Monday for our Music Placement Day.  This day allows us to ‘place’ these students into our music ensembles in preparation for next year.
