Chamber Music Concert

Last Thursday we held our Chamber Music concert at Waterford Place. This concert provided the opportunity for soloists and smaller ensembles to showcase in a more intimate concert setting. The concert was well attended and was a pleasure to watch and listen to. Thank you all for your support.

Carmina Burana - Celebration of Excellence Performance

All musicians in Years 5 and 6 Classroom Music, the Red and Black Concert Bands, Callan Red and Black Strings have all been asked to commit to memory the music to Carmina Burana. We ask families to encourage the boys to work on this at home. The results will be well worth the effort when we combine these musicians with the Celebration of Excellence Orchestra and Choir.

Last week, I wrote that we were planning to run outdoor rehearsals of Carmina Burana

 in the Treacy Quad to teach the boys the format for performance after school. We have found that the boys are picking this up well within school times and within existing rehearsals therefore we will not be going ahead with these particular rehearsals.

Music Practice Hall

A new initiative, Music Practice Hall, was rolled out for Wind, Brass, Percussion and Strings on Monday.  We had a fair turnout this week. The Practice Hall is held in the Music Centre, from 3.15-5pm on Mondays. Please note that next week is a pupil free day, so we will recommence on Monday 29 October. I ask that you actively support this so that we can roll it out more fully next year and support the boys in attaining quality practice habits.

Terrace Jazz Night

Terrace Jazz Night is on Friday 26 October. This will be held in the historic Spring Hill Reservoir, now a performance space at 230 Wickham Terrace Spring Hill. The event starts at 7pm - doors open at 6.30pm. 

There are a limited number of tickets (150) at $60 per adult, which includes a three-course meal of fork food, $2500 "fun money" and lucky door prize.
Dress code is High Rollers attire and is a cocktail standing event.
Guests will need to note that this venue is underground and therefore access is via an internal, steep staircase. Guests wearing stilettos will need to take care moving into the venue.
The Brisbane City Council has advised us that access to this historic venue is not suited to those who have difficulty using stairs.  Please take this into account when booking your tickets.

As events are approved and posted to the Parent Lounge, you will be sent an email advising the name of the event, including the Event Memo, to check and you will be required to give a response regarding attendance. Event Memos will also be available through the Terrace App in Culture | Music.
